Drumline - Josh Withem
Hey Cowboys Fans,
I am very excited for my first year with the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Drumline. It is an honor to get to drum with such talented people and be a part of such an amazing organization.
I recently finished my Bachelor of Arts from Southern Arkansas University and plan to further my education with a degree in electrical engineering.
I am so thankful to all the people who have given me so much support throughout the years. My parents have always been my rock, and I have some really amazing friends who have always been there for me, some of whom play on this drumline with me making it all the more awesome. I hope to make all my family and friends proud and look forward to a very exciting season.
Let’s get ‘em Cowboys!
Number of years on the team: This is my first year on the DCRB Drumline.
Prior Experience: I am from Haltom City, Texas and have played on a few different drumlines since highschool. I was on the Haltom HS drumline for four years, the Metro Alliance Indoor Drumline for three years, and the Southern Arkansas University Drumline for five years. I have played all three instruments at different times in those drumlines.
I am a musicion because: I am a musician because I love the feeling of getting together and making music with people, connecting and communicating at a different level than just spoken word.
What do I like to do most besides drumming: When I am not drumming I enjoy tinkering with electronics, whether I am repairing them or making something old into something new.
I’ve always wanted to: I have always wanted to be a better dancer and hope to accomplish that while being a part of this drumline.
My advice to Youngsters: My advice to youngsters is always follow your dreams and don’t ever be afraid of failure. Failure is when you give up or don’t try because you are afraid of failing.
My biggest role model is: My biggest role model is Casey Crescenzo from the band The Dear Hunter, he is an amazing musician and intellectual.
What I enjoy most about being a DCRB Drummer is: What I enjoy most about being a DCRB drummer is getting to play with my old high school friends Dirk Ellerd, James Baier, and Brian Cherry.
My favorite Cowboys player past or present: My favorite Cowboys player has always been and will continue to be Emmitt Smith; he has always been an inspiration to me since I was very young.
Favorite Band: My favorite band is called Animals As Leaders. They are an instrumental band consisting of two people playing eight string guitars and a drum set player.
Favorite Quotes: My favorite quote is “The Flame is Gone, The Fire Remains.” –Casey Cresenzo. The quote to me means that whatever happens in your life that may come and try to blow out your fire, it cannot. The flame might go out or flicker, but those embers are still burning and just need to be stirred up to get that flame going again.
The three guests I would invite to my fantasy dinner party are: The three guests I would invite to a dinner party would be Casey Crescenzo from The Dear Hunter, Tosin Asabi from Animals As Leaders, and Nikola Tesla.
