(On Draft Weekend ask the resident experts about the Dallas Cowboys 2009 Draft! Mickey Spagnola, Nick Eatman, Rob Phillips and Josh Ellis will answer your questions and give their insights on this year's prospects and the Cowboys needs.)

Submit Your Question Here!

Shawn Worder - Oklahoma City, OK: Can Mike Mickens be an immediate contributor to the Cowboys?

Ellis: It's all about being healthy. If he can run and cut just fine he might have a chance. He might be the biggest name of all the defensive players the Cowboys drafted, and I think they'll be patient with him. That's what you want in the seventh round, guys that are falling.

Roy Smith - Milledgeville, GA: Do you think the Cowboys will take a look at linebacker Leroy Hill now that Seattle has made him free agent? I think he would be a great fit for the Cowboys defense.

Ellis: No, I don't think so. The cost will be prohibitive considering the Cowboys' cap and their plans to extend DeMarcus Ware. Besides, they just drafted linebacker Jason Williams with their first pick.

Matt Goldman - Frisco, TX: With all of the safeties drafted now, what does the future hold for Keith Davis? Pat Watkins? Courtney Brown?

Spagnola: Well, Pat Watkins and Courtney Brown better really step it up in training camp, and especially on special teams. As for Davis, the Cowboys were going to wait until after the draft to see if they wanted to re-sign him. Now, with all the special teams guys they have drafted, along with the safeties, I would image they will now consider K-D sort of a last-resort type guy they'd sign after training camp if the young guys don't come through.

Steve Howard - Dallas, TX: Where do you see Stephen Hodge fitting into the Cowboys system?

Spagnola: Looks like he fits in as a nickel linebacker, especially with his speed. Some teams evaluated him as a strong safety even. And definitely a special teams player. One draft publication lists him as a "core special teams" player.

Herman Smith - Montgomery, AL: Do you think wide receiver Roy Williams will produce like Jerry is expecting next year?

Spagnola: Why not? He has performed to that level his entire career, and in Detroit at that. Why not now? Remember, he wasn't in the greatest of shape when he got here and then suffered the foot injury he played through. With all the weapons the Cowboys have on offense, he just needs to be a 70-catch guy, with 1,000 yards receiving and like seven touchdowns. That would be just what they need.

Jonathan Dy - South Lake Tahoe, CA: How come no one is looking at Graham Harrell as a quarterback? In the the middle of the season, people were looking at him as a top prospect. What happened?

Spagnola: Gave teams pause with his performance at the Senior Bowl, and I'm guessing teams are just unsure of how he would perform in an NFL style offense. They are worried about if he can make all the throws.

Clay Vordenbaum - Trinidad, CO: Cosby had a great college career, but he's extremely old for a rookie (27), so you wonder about his upside. He's also undersized at 5-8. He could help a team as a return guy though.

Phillips: Cosby had a great college career, but he's extremely old for a rookie (27), so you wonder about his upside. He's also undersized at 5-8. He could help a team as a return guy though.

Junior Cosme - Newark, NJ: Why draft Stephen McGee when you could sign Ken Dorsey as a third quarterback? The Cowboys could have gotten a safety instead.

Ellis: Seriously? It's not about finding the guy that will be your third quarterback. It's about trying to find a potential starter down the road. I don't see the everything out of McGee that the Cowboys apparently do, but I'd gladly take him over Dorsey.

Earl Burke Jr - Hempstead, NY: What is your opinion of the Cowboys draft so far?

Eatman: It's hard to evaluate because you don't know what they think of these players. But I think they are obviously drafting for good fits and not necessarily the big names on the draft board.

Olvy Guzman - Kunsan AFB, S. Korea, AP: Why do you think the Cowboys passed on Georgia Tech defensive end Michael Johnson?

Eatman: They did like Johnson but I think they thought he wasn't much better than Hatcher or Bowen, and that's your third and fourth end. Plus, he's pretty tall and lean for that position. I think he's a 4-3 end, not a 3-4.

Tom Henderson - Toronto, Ontario: What's the point of trading down to get more players instead of trading up to get one special one? How many draftees do you think could make the team?

Eatman: I think no more than six or seven rookies can make this team. So you wonder what's going on. Maybe their philosophy is to throw a bunch of things on the wall and hope you get a few that stick.

Steve Tillis - Lake Mary, FL: Why isn't the team addressing more pressing needs like safety and wide receiver?

Eatman: They obviously don't like the safeties for this spot. As for receiver, it has never been a big need for them. Jerry has said that all along. But I would be they get some safety here in the fifth.

Ron Fine - Lewisville, TX: Why were two defensive ends drafted?

Eatman: They are defensive ends in college, but will be outside linebackers in the 3-4 scheme.

Todd Yourn - San Jose, CA: What's the point of drafting so many players when they won't all make the team? Will it really create more competition and better performance?

Eatman: I think you'll start to see some trades here pretty soon. They can't possibly take 13 guys. But the competition in camp will be beneficial.

Dorothy Longan - Portland, TX: Why didn't the Cowboys look at getting a cornerback with the first three picks? This has always been, and still is, a weak position on the team.

Ellis: Always? I think the Cowboys love their top three cornerbacks, and feel pretty good about Alan Ball. They must not have liked the value there with the cornerbacks.

Stan Wiley - College Station, TX: Is the goal to have quarterback Stephen McGee be Romo's eventual successor?

Ellis: The goal is to develop him into the best player you can. The presence of Romo and Jon Kitna buys time for that, and the Cowboys will know plenty about him before he ever has to get on the field. Maybe he'll be a player eventually.

Brian Chung - Seattle, WA: After Matt McBriar got hurt last year and the Cowboys couldn't find a suitable replacement, should the Cowboys worry about finding a second punter? Is McBriar healthy?

Ellis: They will bring in a punter at some point, but I doubt they would draft one. If McBriar's healthy, and they think he will be, another punter doesn't make the team. No reason to pick one.

Andrea Nathan - Vernon, NJ: How will Greg Ellis be used next year with Chris Canty gone and Anthony Spencer behind him?

Phillips: Spencer's the likely starter at outside linebacker, with Ellis more of a third-down pass rusher. Canty's departure has no impact; Igor Olshansky will replace him at defensive end.

Jarrell Harrington - Suitland, MD: Who is the better safety, Chip Vaughn of Wake Forest or David Bruton of Notre Dame?

Ellis: Vaughn looks like the better athlete to me. He's big, and fast for a safety. The Cowboys have got to get somebody to play that position before too long. It might as well be Vaugh.

Henry Odom - Florence, SC: If the Cowboys look for a wide receiver, who could be the draft pick?

Phillips: Rice's Jarett Dillard and Arizona's Mike Thomas have great speed, but not sure they're big enough for the Cowboys' liking. Those two guys stand out to me, but they'd have to help on special teams to make the roster.

Frank Barr - Brownsville, TX: What are the chances of drafting a fullback?

Phillips: I'd say it's possible in the later rounds if there's a solid special teams guy there. LSU's Quinn Johnson and Syracuse's Tony Fiammetta could step in and help.

Ryan Clough - East Haven, CT: Any chance the Cowboys can get tight end James Casey from Rice? His versatility is probably the best in the draft and his ability to play quarterback in the Wildcat is just what we need. He seems like a steal to me. Your thoughts?

Ellis: Well, they did fly down to Houston to see him work out on Thursday. Either that was a smoke screen or they have real interest. We'll see what happens if he falls to them.

Joe Lukman - Simi Valley, CA: Was Jason Williams the best pick available? Could he move to safety?

Phillips: Not sure about best pick available, but clearly he was high on their board. I think he's projected as a linebacker who can possibly help on third downs as a rookie. Special teams will be important as well, and he excelled there his first two years in college.

Eddie Montano - Tucson, AZ: What about drafting a guy like safety/linebacker Kevin Ellison with one of our picks? He is a very smart player and very mature. Sounds like the kind of guy I would like to see in a Cowboys uniform.

Ellis: Is he a safety, or a linebacker? Unless he's Darren Woodson, I doubt he'll be able to make that transition. Too small to play in the Cowboys' 3-4, and I'm iffy about bigger safeties. They need to be able to cover.

Raymond Szymborski - Pennsville, NJ: Is it me, or does this draft class seem below average?

Phillips: Yes, it's definitely weak in the first round. There were some solid second-round picks made yesterday, though, and the Cowboys feel like the third and fourth rounds are strong as well. That's why they traded down.
