Last year the Packers had no problem producing on offense despite the comparisons with disgruntled former quarterback Brett Favre's performance as a New York Jet. What held the Packers back was the underperformance of their defense, which allowed 334 yards a game.
So come March, the Packers drafted for defense, taking five defensive players headlined by defensive tackle B.J. Raji and linebacker Clay Matthews. As a result, it will probably be much harder for the Cowboys to put on as much of the offensive showcase exhibited in their last two meetings, not to mention the difficulties of playing at Lambeau Field in November.

| 2009 Headliners: |
QB Aaron Rodgers - After he spent his first three years in the NFL holding Brett Favre's clipboard, Rodgers finally got his chance to shine in 2008, posting 28 touchdowns, more than 4,000 passing yards and a 93.8 quarterback rating. But if Favre suddenly implants himself in the NFC North once again (with the Vikings), Rodgers will have to deal with the same scrutiny all over again, but this time he'll line up against him twice a season. |
WR Greg Jennings - Jennings has eclipsed Donald Driver as the Packers' most reliable receiving threat, and the team has recognized that fact, locking him up until 2012 with a contract extension. But with Driver still around and still effective, the Cowboys young secondary cannot afford to concentrate solely on Jennings, so he'll get his catches. |
DT B. J. Raji - The Packers drafted Raji not only to start immediately, but make a difference immediately. With Green Bay switching to a 3-4 defense this season, the Packers needed a big nose tackle to clog up the middle. One candidate for that job, Colin Cole, is now a Seattle Seahawk, so the job should fall to Raji, the No. 11 pick in the 2009 draft. |
