It's a new era in Kansas City. Former Arizona offensive coordinator Todd Haley rode his playoff success into the Chiefs' head coaching job, and former Patriots guru Scott Pioli is the new general manager.

With the new front office faces have come a flurry of moves. Pioli acquired a couple Patriots via trades, linebacker Mike Vrabel and quarterback Matt Cassell, who recently signed a monster deal. The Chiefs also parted with face-of-the-franchise tight end Tony Gonzalez, trading him to Atlanta. It's anybody's guess whether the Chiefs can contend in the AFC West, but if they don't it won't be for lack of trying.

2009 Headliners:
RB Larry Johnson - The seventh-year back is looking for his first 1,000-yard season since 2006, when he rushed for 1,789 yards and 17 touchdowns. Since then, Johnson has played 20 games in two years, but has only eight touchdowns and 1,433 rushing yards. Johnson enters the season healthy and is hoping that a new offense and quarterback could open up holes that haven't been there the last two seasons.
QB Matt Cassell - Cassell comes into this season $63 million richer than last year. After a breakout season with the Patriots following Tom Brady's knee injury, Cassell is the head honcho in Kansas City. Whether the quarterback who never started a game in college or the pros until last year can sustain his recent success may be the determining factor in whether the Chiefs succeed this year.
WR Dwayne Bowe - In only two years in the league, Bowe has managed to be very productive despite a lack of consistency at the quarterback position. In 2008, he topped the 1,000 yard plateau, and only missed the same milestone his rookie year by five yards. If Cassell turns out to be the quarterback solution the Chiefs hope he is, Bowe could have a monster season.
