2014 Final Four NCAA Logo Unveiled At Cowboys Stadium
Thursday, November 08, 2012 12:20 PM CST
The Dallas Cowboys, NCAA, Big 12 Conference and the North Texas Final Four Host Committee debuted the logo during a live stream via the Big 12 Digital Network. The Final Four will be played at Cowboys Stadium on April 5 and 7, marking the seventh time the event’s been in Texas and the second time in the North Texas region, most recently in 1986.
Introducing the logo were Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Charlotte Jones Anderson and Xavier director of athletics Mike Bobinksi, who’s the chair of the Division 1 NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee.
“Back in 1986, Reunion Arena hosted a star freshman sensation with one of the all-time great nicknames when ‘Never Nervous’ Pervis Ellison led Louisville past Duke in the championship game and 16,493 fans attended that day,” Bobinski said. “I think we’ll squeeze a few more in here in 2014. If all goes as planned, we will in fact establish a Final Four attendance record here in 2014, which I have no doubt will happen.“
Bowlsby said it’s an honor for the Big 12 to host the event and to collaborate with the Cowboys and Cowboys Stadium, calling the NCAA Basketball Tournament arguably the most exciting three weeks in sports.
Anderson said she’s attended several of the Final Fours and is confident Cowboys Stadium and the organization wouldn’t let anyone down in its presentation.
“There’s many in here that will say there’s nothing like the passion of college fans,” Anderson said. “For us to get a chance to bring in four wonderful teams for the final and to see their fans, their alumni, the people in this region come together to support a great effort, it’s really going to be something.”
