Brandon Carr Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week
If the Cowboys can use this hot streak and advance to the playoffs, one of the key plays of the season will be Brandon Carr’s diving interception against the Steelers in overtime last Sunday that led to a game-winning field goal.
For this week, it was good enough to earn Carr some recognition by the NFL.
Carr was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week, the first for the Cowboys since 2010. Earlier this year, the Cowboys won consecutive Special Teams Player of the Week awards with Dwayne Harris and Dan Bailey taking home the honors.
Carr becomes the first non-special teams winner since Tony Romo last season against San Francisco. Carr is the Cowboys’ first defensive winner since Sean Lee in 2010 when he picked off two passes against Peyton Manning and the Colts.
Along with the late-game interception, Carr had two early pass breakups, one of which that nearly led to an interception.
Last week, Carr also made a momentum-swinging interception against the Bengals, returning it inside the 20 that led to a game-tying touchdown. Read
