Cowboys Sign 3, Move Ratliff And Bernadeau To Active/PUP List
OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys announced one more flurry of activity Sunday before the first practice of training camp.
As expected, the team announced the signings of offensive tackle Demetress Bell, quarterback Alex Tanney and wide receiver Lavasier Tuinei to help fill out the 90-man roster.
What was not so expected was the movement of starting defensive tackle Jay Ratliff and starting guard Mackenzy Bernadeau to the active/physically unable to perform list.
Both players sustained injuries Saturday during conditioning tests, when they injured their hamstrings during the pre-camp exercises.
The pair can be cleared to return to action once they complete their conditioning tests, though it’s unclear how far away that might be.
Bell, Tanney and Tuinei were placed on the active/non-football injury list after failing to complete their conditioning tests. They can be cleared to participate upon completion.
It’s not exactly news to see either Ratliff or Bernadeau on an injury report. Ratliff missed 10 games due to injury in 2012, and he was limited at times during offseason workouts. Bernadeau turned in a full season last year, but injuries kept him out of the majority of OTA’s and minicamp this spring.
The loss of Bernadeau gives the Cowboys quite a depleted interior offensive line to start training camp. Two of the three players on Garrett’s initial injury report on Saturday – Ronald Leary and Nate Livings – are guards, which leaves the Cowboys with David Arkin, Ray Dominguez and possibly Travis Frederick at the guard position to start camp.
The three players Garrett listed as injured on Saturday -- Leary, Livings and long snapper L.P. Ladouceur -- were also placed on the active/non-football injury list, along with center Ryan Cook, as well as Bell, Tanney and Tuinei.
