Cowboys Release 2 Players From Reserved/Injured List
IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys have released guard Nate Livings and defensive tackle Travis Chappelear from their reserved/injured list, the team announced Thursday morning.
The news comes after the team agreed to injury settlements with both players. The settlements are for undisclosed amounts. Livings missed the final month of training camp, as soreness in his right knee prompted him to undergo an MRI and subsequently and arthroscopic surgery.
Livings started all 16 games at guard for the Cowboys in 2012, but he was limited by injury in the buildup to the season. The Cowboys placed him on injured reserve last weekend when they made their final roster cuts. He will still receive his $1.7 million base salary, which was guaranteed as part of the five-year, $19 million deal he signed in 2012.
It's a three-week injury settlement, and Livings is unavailable to return to the Cowboys until six weeks after the settlement is over. So he wouldn't be available until Week 9.
The settlement with Chappelear comes just a few weeks after he injured his foot during team warmups for the preseason game against Arizona. Chappelear was with the team for a grand total of a week. ReadRead
