Practice Update: Lee Back On Field; Harris, Carter Off
IRVING, Texas – Sean Lee was on the field Wednesday for the first day of practice in preparation for the Packers, which is a positive sign for the linebacker’s chances this week even if it was a no-pads practice.
Linebackers Justin Durant and DeVonte Holloman, who were inactive Monday in Chicago, were also on the field, while Morris Claiborne, Dwayne Harris and Bruce Carter all missed practice with hamstring injuries.
Durant had been dealing with a hamstring injury, while Holloman’s had a neck problem most of the year. Having Durant, Holloman and Orie Lemon inactive in Monday’s game meant more trouble at linebacker when Lee injured his neck and was eventually forced out of the game.
Without Lee or Carter on the field by the end of the matchup against the Bears, the only healthy linebackers were Ernie Sims, Kyle Wilber, Cameron Lawrence and Kyle Bosworth. Having Lee, Durant and Holloman back this week would be crucial for Sunday’s game against the Packers.
“We got positive results regarding Sean Lee’s neck, meaning we feel good about the results,” said head coach Jason Garrett. “We’ll see what he’s able to do as the week goes on. Bruce Carter also tweaked a hamstring. We’ll see what he does the next couple of days and see if he’s able to move around and get himself ready to go.”
The snow and ice that had previously covered the field only remained in patches around the outside of the field, allowing the team to practice in sweats and helmets without issue. The Cowboys have a short week to prepare for the Packers after the Monday night trouncing.
“You have to move on to the next challenge, and certainly when you come of a loss like we had the other night, you have to do that,” Garrett said. “It’s important for us in this short week to make the corrections from the other night and take some time this morning doing that with our players and then get focused on Green Bay and how we can do our best in our preparation to go play our best ballgame on Sunday.” Read
