Cowboys Sign Last Seventh-Rounder; Four Picks To Sign
IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys have now locked up all of their seventh-round picks after signing defensive tackle Ken Bishop to a contract Tuesday.
Bishop, the 251st pick in the draft, becomes the fifth draft pick to sign with the Cowboys, joining fellow seventh-rounders Ben Gardner, Will Smith, Ahmad Dixon and Terrance Mitchell. That leaves the top four picks to sign – Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, Anthony Hitchens and Devin Street.
The Cowboys do have the money under the cap to sign all of their picks even before the $5.5 million cap charge from Miles Austin that comes off the books on June 1.
Bishop is expected to play the 1-technique defensive tackle spot. While Nick Hayden and Terrell McClain are expected to compete for the starting spot, Bishop has a chance for some playing time.
One of the 30 players to visit Valley Ranch back in April, Bishop had seven tackles for loss and 70 overall last year. He had 9.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and 3.5 sacks as a junior in 2012. Read
