Brandon Carr Kicks Off PLAY 60 Challenge
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr was at Stonewall Elementary School in Dallas on Monday, getting students excited to take the PLAY 60 Challenge Powered by Reliant.
Carr encouraged students to get outside and play in order to get their 60 minutes of physical activity each day, but only after completing homework and chores for Mom and Dad. He also took questions from students, including whether he always knew he wanted to be a football player (“No, I wanted to be a pediatrician”), where he went to college (“Grand Valley State, have you heard of it?”) and whether girls could play football (“We had a girl running back on my pee wee team and she ran all over us!”).
The PLAY 60 Challenge is an American Heart Association and NFL collaborative program, encouraging students to “challenge” themselves by logging their 60 minutes of play each day for six weeks in the PLAY 60 student planner. Teachers are encouraged to help my incorporating physical activity breaks in the classroom.
