Mailbag: What's The Cowboys' Offseason Grade? Anthony Brown's Prospects?

JAMES JORDANCONVERSE, TX
What kind of grade do you give the Cowboys for what they've done this offseason?  I initially thought the other NFC East teams did a better job, but I don't think the Joneses did a bad job.

Bryan:They targeted a few players that in my opinion can actually help. I really do like the additions of Benson Mayowa and Cedric Thornton for the defense. There is no question that Ezekiel Elliott is going to help the offense. They didn't overspend for players and their cap is in line for the future. They did what they had to do.

David:It's a bit of a mixed bag, isn't it? I like the addition of Ezekiel Elliott. I think they've made some good, affordable decisions on the defensive line. To be perfectly frank, I don't think they did enough to fortify the depth at quarterback. The future also looks pretty scary in the secondary. All in all, I'd say something like a B or a B-.

As fans, we don't get to see the new players up close. Looking at Anthony Brown's measurables, and his production at Purdue, he looks like a possibility as the 4th corner. Can you give your opinion, and does he play special teams?

Bryan: If you check our website out during and post draft – I wrote a detailed scouting report on what I believed was his potential ability. He was one of the most complete cornerbacks I studied when it came to being a complete player. He covers well, he is not afraid to tackle and he does a nice job of finishing plays. He has the traits to play special teams and there is no question that he will get plenty of those opportunities in training camp.

David:I would definitely expect him to be in the mix for the No. 4 corner job, along with Terrance Mitchell and Deji Olatoye. His speed is no joke, so that's something to watch. He's going to have to excel at special teams to make the team, and I think he could be great in punt and kick coverage. He also has a penchant for blocking field goals, which is intriguing. You never want to project too much with a late-round pick, but I think he's got high upside.
