NFL Gives 1-Year Suspension to DE Randy Gregory; Will Miss 2016 Playoffs

FRISCO, Texas– Less than a week after recording his first career sack, the NFL has now sacked Randy Gregory for a full year.

The league has officially given defensive end Randy Gregory a one-year suspension for this third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Gregory served a combined 14 games for two separate suspensions this season, but returned to play the final two regular season games.

However, he won't be able to play in the playoffs after this latest news from the NFL office on Thursday.

Gregory, a second-round pick of the Cowboys in 2015, played in 12 games last year but did not record a sack. He ranked fourth on the team with 16 quarterback pressures.

The Cowboys will be able to replace Gregory's roster spot this week, likely with another defensive end, considering all of the issues the club has sustained at that position. The team is hopeful DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford will be able to play next week in the NFC Divisional round.
