Is DeMarcus Lawrence having a great year, or did he just have a great three-game stretch to start the season? Is he a must re-sign free agent?
Bryan: Actually he's been one of your better defenders. I would absolutely try and re-sign him. He now has a plan of how to get himself ready for the season and each week to play. If I couldn't work out something long-term I'd consider using the franchise tag on him just to protect myself.
David:Any time you reach double-digit sacks in the NFL, I think that qualifies as a great season. That's a hard milestone to reach, as evidenced by the fact that the Cowboys haven't had someone do it in five years. Whether that means the Cowboys will be able to reach a long-term deal with him, I'm not sure. If I had to guess, I think he's heading for the franchise tag.

Since last year I've repeatedly heard how talented the Cowboys roster is. If they're so talented why haven't they been competitive the last three games? I know losing Zeke and Lee are hard to overcome, but if you look at other teams like Seattle, losing Sherman and Chancellor and they have no run game, they don't get blown out. The Redskins have been competitive despite their injuries.
Bryan: You're right. Maybe guys like me sold you on a more talented roster than it really is. They've had players that haven't played to the level necessary to win these games. The coaches have admitted they've done a poor job and missing your best players doesn't help. When it's all said and done you take steps that it doesn't happen again -- including me.
David:That's the million-dollar question, isn't it? I honestly don't have a good answer for you. Ezekiel Elliott and Sean Lee are great players, but that shouldn't be the difference between being competitive and losing by a combined 70 points over the last three games. It's mystifying. Thursday will tell us a lot about whether they've found any answers to that question.
