Frederick Among 32 Nominees For Walter Payton Man Of The Year Award

FRISCO, Texas – Center Travis Frederick is among 32 nominees for the 2017 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, the league announced Thursday.

The award recognizes an NFL player who represents "the best of the NFL's commitment to philanthropy and community impact," according to the league.

Each of the 32 teams has a nominee, and three finalists will be selected in January. The winner will be announced at NFL Honors on Feb. 3, the eve of Super Bowl LII.

Frederick, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, made his first All-Pro team last season. His Blocking Out Hunger Foundation is dedicated to providing support for low-income children in the Dallas area who struggle with hunger.

A $250,000 donation will be made to the winner's charity of choice, and another $250,000 will be donated in his name to expand Character Playbook – a digital learning initiative started by the NFL and United Way. All donations are courtesy of the NFL Foundation, Nationwide and United Way Worldwide, the league announced.
