Combine: Broaddus Measures Up Talented Group Of Skill Players

Posted Feb 22, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS – One of the most important parts of the combine is seeing exactly how these players measure up in terms of height and weight. While they might be listed one way throughout college, we get the chance to see for ourselves before their workouts.

·         This morning the quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs were weighed and measured. Some players of note, quarterbacks Matt Barkley (QB01) 6-2, 227, Matt Glennon (QB05) 6-7, 225,
Collin Klein (QB08) 6-5, 226, E.J. Manuel (QB09) 6-5 237, Ryan Nassib (QB 10) 6-2, 227, Geno Smith (QB13) 6-2, 218 and Tyler Wilson (QB16) 6-2, 215.

For the receivers, Tavon Austin (WO02) 5-8, 174, Keenan Allen (WO01) 6-2, 206, Marquise Goodwin (WO11) 5-9, 183, Deandre Hopkins (WO15) 6-1, 214, Cordarrelle Patterson (WO24) 6-2, 216, Terrance Williams (WO37) 6-2, 208, and Robert Woods (WO39) 6-0, 201.

For the running backs Montee Ball (RB02) 5-11, 214, Gio Bernard (RB05) 5-8, 202, Andre Ellington (RB10) 5-9, 199, Mike Gillislee (RB13) 5-11, 208,
Eddie Lacy (RB20) 5-11, 231, Marcus Lattimore (RB21) 5-11, 221, and Stepfan Taylor (RB31) 5-9, 214.

·         There will be two quarterbacks at the Combine that teams would like to see position drills for at another position, Marques Gray (QB06) and Collin Klein (QB08) will be worked out as tight ends, while 21 defensive ends will be worked out as linebackers. Some of those players are: Ziggy Ansah (DL01), Tank Carradine (DL07), Dion Jordan (DL25) Barkevious Mingo (DL33), Damontre Moore (DL35), Alex Okafor (DL36) and Bjoern Werner (DL47). These players will work out after their own group drills and will do it in front of the entire combine.

·         Wrote on Thursday about how important the bench press numbers are for Jonathan Cooper (OL13), but here are some other offensive linemen to keep an eye on today, Eric Fisher (OL16) and Luke Joeckel ( OL27). There are teams that could use this number to separate the two tackles for the top position on their boards. Keep an eye on Lane Johnson (OL29) as well. Looks more like an athlete on film than a power guy. Teams see him as Nate Solder of the Patriots who coming out of Colorado had a similar style. Justin Pugh (OL43) and David Quessenberry (OL44) both are offensive tackles that teams are looking at to play inside at guard. If the strength numbers don’t add up, it might be hard to project that switch.
