DeMarcus Ware Recognizes 5th Annual Cowboys Play 60 Team

Posted Nov 21, 2012

IRVING, Texas (November 21, 2012) – The Dallas Cowboys announced the 11 youth chosen for this year’s Cowboys Play 60 team Wednesday with help from linebacker DeMarcus Ware and Cowboys’ Play 60 partner Kinect for Xbox 360.

During a special recognition program at Valley Ranch, Ware presented the team with official Play 60 jerseys, a certificate of achievement and, to the kids’ surprise and delight, an Xbox 360 console with Kinect—a gaming system designed to get kids up and moving. The Play 60 team will wear their new jerseys on the field at Cowboys Stadium during the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Redskins for pregame festivities—including participating in player introductions and standing with the Cowboys during the National Anthem—as well as for the nationally televised halftime show featuring Kenny Chesney which will officially kick off The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

The Cowboys Play 60 team’s 11 members were selected by The Salvation Army’s Cedar Crest Community Center in Dallas for continually demonstrating the five core values highlighted in The Army’s Mission Statement both on and off the field: Passion, Compassion, Bravery, Uplifting Spirit and Trustworthiness. All 11 youth are members of The Army’s Pop Warner football league.

The Play 60 All Star program is a component of the Cowboys’ and National Football League’s Play 60 initiative designed to tackle childhood obesity and inspire kids to play well and eat better. For the fifth year running, the Cowboys are proud to partner with The Salvation Army to assemble an All Star team of deserving kids from local Salvation Army programs.

Special thanks to Cowboys’ Play 60 partner Kinect for Xbox 360 for the generous donation of 11 new gaming systems for the Play 60 All Star team. With the addition of Kinect, Xbox 360 has transformed social gaming and entertainment with a whole new way to play—no controller required—making video games no longer a stationary activity.
