CowBuzz: Behind The Scenes Of Cowboys and Saints

Posted Nov 10, 2013

A behind the scenes look at the Cowboys versus Saints game.

As we arrived at the Superdome and stood in line to get onto the press elevator Nick Eatman pointed out that Danny White and Roger Staubach were standing behind us. We then realized that there would be five former Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks in attendance at the game. Danny White, Roger Staubach, Babe Laufenberg, Wade Wilson and Jason Garrett. So I did what I do best and I stalked all of them and got photos for this issue of CowBuzz. Anyone remember former Cowboys linebacker Victor Butler? He now plays for the Saints and caught up with some of his former teammates before and after the game. Anyone remember a crazy haired wild man that use to be the Cowboys defensive coordinator named Rob Ryan? In case you live under a football rock, he joined the Saints this offseason and is now their defensive coordinator. He made it a point after the game to seek out certain Cowboys players after the game to say hi.

Dez Bryant only caught one pass for 44 yards, but he now has 3,620 career receiving yards and passed Terrell Owens (3,587) for ninth in Cowboys history.

With his two catches for 27 yards, Jason Witten has now caught at least one pass in 80 straight games and trails only Michael Irvin (117 from 1990-98) for the team record. Witten’s last game without a reception was at the N.Y. Giants (11/2/08). Witten now has 853 career catches to break a tie with Irving Fryar (851) for sole possession of 19th in NFL history.

Cowboys fans are the best in the world, but I do have to give it to the Saints fans, they are probably the most decorated. They definitely had the dome rocking, here’s a few of my favorite characters that I noticed in the stands.

After every game players from each team will gather at midfield, hold hands and join in prayer. Even though it was a tough loss for the Cowboys, seeing this after a game really puts things into persepective. We as fans sometimes forget that it is just a game.
