Cowboys Sign 1st Rd Pick Frederick; All Draftees Signed

Posted Jun 25, 2013

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys signed first-round draft pick Travis Frederick on Tuesday evening, officially bringing the entire 2013 Cowboys draft class into the fold.

Frederick signed a four-year deal with a fifth-year option as the 31st overall pick in April’s draft. The Cowboys selected the Wisconsin product with the second-to-last pick in the first round after trading out of the No. 18 spot.

The details of Frederick’s deal were not made available, but the four-year contract will likely be similar to the one given to Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin – the 31st pick in 2012. Martin’s deal is worth roughly $6.7 million over the course of four years with about $5.5 million guaranteed.

The addition of Frederick’s signature completes a several-month process of negotiating rookie contracts. The Cowboys worked in reverse order with their new draftees, as they signed sixth-round pick DeVonte Holloman as far back as May 10. Fifth-round pick Joseph Randle and fourth-round pick B.W. Webb followed soon after.

The team’s more high-profile picks negotiated further into the summer, with third rounders Terrance Williams and J.J. Wilcox, as well as second-round pick Gavin Escobar, agreeing to deals just last week.
