ARLINGTON, Texas –
Ware was one of a handful of Cowboys players who helped with the building of a playground for The Salvation Army on Tuesday – a job that saw the veteran defensive end bent over to rake mulch and add the finishing nuts and bolts into the constructed playground equipment.
Having suffered a strain in his lower back early in the 30-21 loss to the Chargers, Ware said he didn’t think it would be a problem going forward.
“I’m good. I’m fine,” Ware said.
There have been several nagging injuries bothering the All-Pro defensive end in the early going of this campaign. Ware dealt with recurring stinger issues during the Cowboys’ games against Kansas City and St. Louis before the back strain in San Diego.
Ware said he anticipated he’d remain on the same practice schedule this week as he followed after the Rams game – a non-padded practice Wednesday followed by light practices on Thursday and Friday.
The veteran said last week that Thursday and Friday’s practices are the most important for getting acclimated to the upcoming opponent.
Ware leads the Cowboys with four sacks this season and has a team-high 13 quarterback pressures. He has four additional tackles and is one of four Dallas defenders with an interception so far.
