OXNARD, Calif. – The hamstring bug has struck yet again for the Cowboys, this time to All-Pro linebacker
DeMarcus Ware
, who will not play in Saturday’s game with the Chargers.
Ware told reporters after Friday’s final walkthrough in Oxnard that has experienced some tightness in his hamstring and won’t push it against the Chargers. Although had this been in the regular season, it sounded like Ware would certainly be a go to play.
But like many others this camp, the Cowboys have been overly cautious with all injuries, particularly with the hamstrings.
The Cowboys will likely be without defensive end
Jason Hatcher
, wide receiver
Miles Austin
and outside linebacker
Anthony Spencer
– all because of hamstring injuries. Rookie tailback
Lance Dunbar
has also been out for two weeks with a hamstring injury and rookie safety
Matt Johnson
, a fourth-round pick, has yet to practice with the Cowboys in camp because of a hamstring setback.
Ware’s injury means three outside linebackers will be out for Saturday’s game – Ware, Spencer and rookie
Kyle Wilber
(broken thumb).
Victor Butler
will start at one spot and it’s likely either
Alex Albright
or rookie
Adrian Hamilton
will get the start on the opposite side. Expect plenty of reps from Hamilton, one of the standouts in last week’s game against Oakland.
