Cowboys Not Too Concerned By Romo’s Back Strain Injury

Posted Nov 5, 2012

IRVING, Texas - While Felix Jones was running down the field and looking for a pitch man to keep the play and game alive Sunday night, Tony Romo was picking himself off the ground after taking one last hit on the final play from scrimmage.

But it was a rather painful one, as Romo apparently suffered a strained back injury on the play and gingerly walked off the field after the 19-13 loss to the Falcons.

Afterwards, Romo told reporters he would be fine and called it merely a strain and did not need an MRI on Monday.

While Romo was not available during the open locker room period at Valley Ranch on Monday, head coach Jason Garrett wasn’t too revealing about the injury either.

“I think he’s feeling better,” said Garrett, who was asked if he thought the injury might linger this week. “I don’t think so.”

Statistically, it was Romo’s best game overall since the Week 1 win over the Giants when he had a 129.5 QB rating and three touchdowns with 307 yards.

Against the Falcons, Romo had 321 yards and one touchdown, but no interceptions for a 109.3 rating.

The Cowboys dropped to 33-10 when Romo has a QB rating over 100 and also 19-3 in the month of November with Romo as the starter.
