IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys made a one-year tender offer of $1.323 million to restricted free agent safety 
Any offer made to McCray by other teams can be matched by the Cowboys, but they won’t receive any compensation if McCray leaves, since he went undrafted.
McCray’s served mostly as a special teams ace during his three seasons with the Cowboys, but he started 10 games at safety in 2012 as the team adjusted after injuries. He led the group in special teams tackles in back-to-back seasons each of his first two years in the NFL, accomplishing a feat no other Cowboys player had since Bill Bates in 1989-90.
He was a valued member of the special teams units of coach Joe DeCamillis, who’s now the special teams coach in Chicago. Despite his increased role at safety last season, McCray still had 18 total special teams tackles, according to coaches’ film, placing him only behind
