IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys made it nine straight drafts selecting at least one linebacker by using their final pick of the 2013 NFL Draft on South Carolina’s DeVonte Holloman.

Special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia was in the draft war room when Holloman went with the 185th overall pick to Dallas in the sixth round. The linebacker should be able to help out Bisaccia on his special teams unit.

Holloman used to be a strong safety before converting to linebacker, playing in 51 games in four seasons for the Gamecocks. He finished with 57 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions last season, giving him seven interceptions for his career.

Holloman started every game for South Carolina’s defense last year and started 35 of 51 games in his career. He made 22 starts at strong safety and 13 at linebacker, recording 207 tackles in his collegiate career.

After starting the draft using three picks on offensive players, the Cowboys turned to the other side of the ball, snagging three defensive players with their final four picks.
