Jerry Jones In No Rush To Name Finalized Coaching Staff

Posted Jan 21, 2013

MOBILE, Ala. – Owner Jerry Jones made much more noise with his coaching changes this offseason than he did Monday at the first Senior Bowl practice.

Jones said he’d wait until Tuesday to address the media more extensively after watching the North Team practice. Before leaving, he said he doesn’t foresee any immediate or finalized decision on his coaching staff to occur while he’s in Mobile, Ala.

“I’m going to be real limited on staff,” Jones said. “We’re not going to sum it all up for competitive reasons and negotiating reasons. We just are going to let them come out as we make those decisions about adding new staff members. When we’ve pretty much finished what we’re going to be doing, we’ll get together with all that. But that won’t be down here.”

Executive vice president Stephen Jones, quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson, assistant director of player personnel Tom Ciskowski and college scouting coordinator Chris Hall were among the Cowboys’ staff members sitting with Jerry Jones at practice.

Head coach Jason Garrett and both coordinators were not among them at the time, but Jerry Jones said he flew in with defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and that Garrett was "here, looking at players." He also said he’s excited about the changes made this offseason, bringing in Kiffin and defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

The Cowboys still need to make coaching moves for special teams, running backs and tight ends.

“We’re doing things that certainly immediately make a difference and we can take a few things we want to build on and that we have got and build on those,” Jerry Jones said. “Jason and I, and our entire organization, are working together to do just that. I think the decisions we’ve made have really improved our chances for improving our record."
