MICHAEL PRADO, ORANGE, TX: What are Richard Bartel's chances of making this team and possibly becoming the backup for Tony Romo? Brad Johnson may be okay as the backup for now but he is getting older and is not going to be what we need to get the job done if Tony did go down during the season.

Mickey: I'd say zero to none. Bartel has never taken a snap in the NFL, and you would expect him to become your backup quarterback on a team with Super Bowl aspirations? What happens if Tony Romo gets hurt? Yes Johnson is getting older, but if Bartel is to become the backup, that's for down the road, not this year. He would be doing well just to make the team as the third quarterback instead of the practice squad guy.

Josh: He might make the roster but it looks like he's still way behind Brad Johnson. He just throws too many interceptions during practice, and while Bartel may have the stronger arm and more mobility, Johnson's got the experience to make the right decisions. That's what wins in the NFL. If Romo gets hurt the offense will be severely limited whoever steps in - better to limit the turnovers in that situation and lean on the running game and defense.

Rob: The Cowboys have kept only two quarterbacks on the active roster in recent years. Bartel might have a hard time taking a roster spot from an extra wide receiver or cornerback. He'd be eligible for the practice squad again if he cleared waivers. As for Brad Johnson, Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips gave the veteran backup a vote of confidence this week. The Cowboys seem to think his track record as a game manager would be an asset if Romo got hurt.

JASON GRANT, SHREVEPORT, LA: How is Orlando Scandrick coming along at corner? How many corners do you keep: five or six? Who makes the team at corner?

Mickey: Scandrick appears to be doing very well for a fifth-round pick, and at times he's been playing on the second unit. He seems to have a knack for reading routes and getting his hands on the ball. As for how many cornerbacks make the roster, I'd say at this point six, just because there appears to be so much talent back there. But it's way too early to say who makes the team. The preseason games will decide that, especially for Sandrick, Evan Oglesby, Alan Ball and Quincy Butler.

Josh: Scandrick has looked pretty good out here - he's feisty. Competitive. It's hard to say whether five make it or six, and that probably depends on how many safeties they keep, but I think Scandrick makes it either way, especially if these camp injuries keep Alan Ball and Quincy Butler out of the mix for too long. After the first four in Terence Newman, Anthony Henry, Pacman Jones and Mike Jenkins, you've also got Evan Oglesby, who is playing well. Tough competition at that spot.

Rob: Scandrick might have had his best practice Friday afternoon, breaking up a couple of passes in team drills. The fifth-round pick has been very active and actually seems to be making more plays than first-round pick Mike Jenkins. I say six corners will make it (maybe even seven depending on how long Terence Newman's groin keeps him out). Newman, Anthony Henry, Adam Jones, Jenkins, Scandrick and . . . Evan Oglesby. The guy is everywhere. The Cowboys like Alan Ball, but his sprained ankle isn't doing him any favors.
