GIOVANNI CAMARENA ELIZALDE, MÉXICO, DIF: With the recent suspension of Adam Jones, what are the chances he remains a Dallas Cowboys or if he'll ever have the opportunity to continue his career in the NFL?
Rob: Returning to the league is partially up to Jones, but mostly up to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Good behavior over this next month doesn't guarantee he'll be reinstated. The Cowboys don't seem to be giving up on him, but team owner Jerry Jones said Jones will have to adhere to additional NFL stipulations if he wants to play football again.
Josh: Based on what we know of the conditions for his return, Pacman will have to meet a fairly high standard of behavior while he's away from the team these four weeks and potentially longer. This includes alcohol testing and counseling, which was not part of the two-year substance abuse program he recently wrapped up. Basically it comes down to this: Does he want to act right or not? If he does, it appears Jerry Jones is willing to give him another chance. It's really up to Pacman. You can bet this time is his absolute last chance, though.
Nick: I would suggest the chances aren't that good. As it stands now, he could come back after four games, but it didn't sound like the Cowboys were welcoming him back with open arms. Who knows at this point? That's a good question, but just hard to get an answer. But for now, it's really out of the Cowboys' hands. He's got a month to prove himself -AGAIN - to the commissioner. After that, the NFL has a decision to make and the Cowboys would get to make one as well.
CHRIS VEGA, LEESBURG, VA: Do you guys think that Roy Williams was worth three picks? I think I would have been okay with just the 1st or maybe even just a 3rd and a 6th, but this is a guy that nobody else showed much interest in. Your thoughts?
Rob: Please; you're not going to get a Pro Bowl receiver for a third and a sixth. Remember, they're getting a seventh back from Detroit, so essentially it's a first and third for Williams. The Cowboys have an extra third-rounder in their back pocket and they've still got nine overall draft picks counting the fifth Tennessee will relinquish because Pacman got suspended. With all those late picks, they can deal their way into another first-day pick next year. You guys wanted to spend a first-round pick on a receiver, and now you have -- except this one is proven.
Josh: I think the move was necessary considering the spark this offense lacked through the first six games of the year. They needed someone to take pressure off Terrell Owens, and they needed a talented young receiver to be around even after T.O. is gone. They got both of those things for what amounts to three unknown guys. Could those picks turn into Felix Jones, Jason Witten and Deon Anderson? Sure, but with the unknown nature of the draft, they can just as easily become Bobby Carpenter, Stephen Peterman and Montavious Stanley.
Nick: You have to give a first to get a first. He's worth a first-round pick because not only is he a super-talented receiver, but he instantly bolsters that position for years to come. As for the other picks, you can afford to do that because of the extra picks they obtained last year in the draft. While other teams were just picking players, the Cowboys were moving up and down so they could end up with enough picks to go get an experienced player.
