TIM BROOKE - TOLEDO, OH: When are the Cowboys going to put Roy Williams on the bench and bring in Patrick Crayton? Since being demoted, every time he steps on the field he makes a play.
Nick: So do you think it's because he was demoted or maybe that's just the role that fits him. Roy Williams is definitely in the top two of receivers on this team. He needs to start. Let's not forget he led the team in receiving the last two weeks while the other guys couldn't make any catches until the fourth quarter. That's a knee-jerk reaction if I've ever seen one.
Josh: I just don't think it's going to happen. The Cowboys are paying Roy Williams a lot of money. They think he's a good receiver. And while they like Crayton too, they're kind of married to Williams right now. He's going to get every opportunity to be the guy. He just needs to be more consistent.
Rob: Sorry, don't see it happening. Crayton certainly is making the most of his opportunities. But Williams is being paid like a big-time starter and he's going to start. He's got to be more consistent, but in the two games before Washington, we saw a lot of progress between Romo and himself (aside from a couple costly mistakes against Green Bay). The guy is talented, but this season just hasn't gone his way.
ROCKY TRIPLETT - SPARKS, NV: After watching Alan Ball play a full game, what is your assessment of his performance? I contend we will lose nothing with Ball because as he gets comfortable he will be around the ball. Hamlin rarely makes any plays in the passing game.
Nick: Well, let's see what happens against a team with more of a vertical passing game. The Redskins didn't really have that and the Raiders don't either. Ball played OK, but he wasn't tested much. I still think Hamlin is better than people give him credit for.
Josh: The Cowboys protected Ball some, taking him off the field so they could play single-safety high with Gerald Sensabaugh, or basically lining up Scandrick as a safety so they could play a three deep. He didn't look bad, though he did miss a couple tackles. Hamlin's done that too. Hamlin's their starter, and he'll get the job back when he's healthy.
Rob: He missed a couple of tackles but overall did a nice job. In coverage, he's an asset because he has mostly cornerback experience. The difference at safety is making a lot more checks as well as playing the run.
