IRVING, Texas - Neil Nicholas is enjoying the experience of a lifetime this Thanksgiving week through the Dallas Cowboys' Texas Lottery scratch-off ticket partnership.
And he brought some friends along, too.
Nicholas won a "Wild Weekend" package by returning his non-winning $5 ticket in the mail. Second-drawing winners can invite a travel party of 20 for the "Wild Weekend" experience, which includes a pre-game party and suite for 20 guests at a Cowboys home game; a private tour of Cowboys Stadium and the team's practice facility; and round-trip airfare or ground transportation and hotel accommodations for 20.
Nicholas visited the $1.15 billion new stadium Wednesday afternoon with friends and family, then arrived at Valley Ranch for a peek at the locker room and practice field.
"I've actually been a Jerry Jones and an (Arkansas) Razorbacks fan my entire life," Nicholas said of the Cowboys' owner, who was a co-captain on Arkansas' national championship team in 1964. "And then when Jerry bought the Cowboys (in 1989) I became a huge Cowboys fan."
The $5 Cowboys scratch-off ticket offers players a chance at cash prizes up to $100,000. Fans also have the opportunity to win Cowboys merchandise and prizes in one of five second-chance drawings, like Nicholas'.
Prizes include gift certificates, signed jerseys, pairs of season tickets and other various special trip packages.
