IRVING, Texas - If tonight's game between these two arch-enemies is any indication, Texas Stadium is certainly going to go out in style.

In a Monday night barn-burner for the ages, the last one to ever be played at the Cowboys' venerable home, Dallas and Philadelphia traded punches like two heavyweight prize fighters, the offenses racking up the yardage while both defenses fought desperately to stop the bleeding.

Almost from the beginning, the game appeared set to come down to whoever had the ball last would win, the two teams trading the lead seven times during the night. But, after Tony Romo brought his team back from a fourth-quarter deficit, the Dallas defense finally held when they had to, securing a riveting 41-37 victory.

Deferring to the Eagles after winning the coin toss, the Cowboys' Monday Night home finale got off to an inauspicious start when Nick Folk booted the opening kickoff out of bounds to give the visitors the ball on their own 40 for their first possession.

Unsuccessful on his first pass attempt, a short dump-off to tight end L.J. Smith, McNabb handed the ball off to running back Brian Westbrook on the next snap who ran 14 yards straight up the gut for a first down. Westbrook got his hands on the ball on the next two plays as well, a run and short pass, picking up a combined four yards.

With pressure closing in, McNabb circled to his right and then found tight end Brent Celek over the middle for a 19-yard gain and another first down at the Dallas 23. The quarterback next hit rookie DeSean Jackson on the right sideline for a seven-yard pickup, then handed off to Westbrook who was stuffed by DeMarcus Ware for no gain.

On third and three, McNabb hit Jackson again on a slant over the middle which at first appeared to be a fumble and mad scramble, but the play was ruled incomplete with Jackson never having control. David Akers came on the field for his first attempt on the night, hitting a 34-yard field goal to give Philadelphia a quick 3-0 lead.

Taking the ball at his goal line, the speedy Felix Jones ran the kickoff back to the Cowboys 24, only to see the return negated after a holding penalty was called on Patrick Watkins.

Setting up shop on his own 14, Tony Romo began the Cowboys' offense with a handoff to Marion Barber, who plowed forward for a one-yard gain. Romo then tried to find tight end Jason Witten on an out pattern to the left, but saw the pass go incomplete thanks to tight coverage by Quintin Mikell.

Faced with third and long, Romo found wide receiver Terrell Owens open, who leapt high to bring down the catch and give Dallas a first down at their own 28. After Barber was stuff for a two-yard loss, Romo escaped pressure and flipped a backhand pass to Barber who got the unit back to the 28.

Up against a third and long once more, Romo again hooked up with a wide open Owens, who this time burned by the Eagles secondary on a post pattern, caught the ball in stride and raced to the end zone for a 72-yard touchdown. Folk's extra point gave the home team their first lead of the night, 7-3.

The Owens score, which was also the longest touchdown pass of Romo's career, moved him into sole possession of second place for receiving touchdowns (131) in NFL history, behind only Jerry Rice.

With Quintin Demps bringing the kickoff back to the Eagles' 26-yard line, McNabb quickly got the Eagles marching again with a quick strike to Westbrook, who stumbled forward for a four-yard gain. McNabb then found wideout Greg Lewis over the middle for a first down at their own 47, which was followed by a handoff to Westbrook that picked up four and moved the team into Dallas territory.

Another first down was earned when McNabb found running back Correll Buckhalter for eight yards and Bradie James was called for illegal hands to the face. Ware then tacked on five more yards with an offside penalty. At first and five, Westbrook bulldogged up the middle again for a three-yard pickup, then got the first down when he bounced outside to his left for six.

McNabb hit his outlet, wide receiver Hank Baskett, for a short gain to the Dallas 26, but saw his next two passes fall incomplete to stop the drive and bring on Akers. Good from 44, the kicker brought his team to within one, 7-6.

And then the Cowboys big-play potential struck again. The rookie Jones took the ensuing kickoff at his own two, exploded through the wedge and found his next gear, blowing by Akers and racing to the end zone to give Dallas a 14-6 lead. The touchdown was his second in as many career games, and the Cowboys first kickoff return for a score since Miles Austin went 93 yards against Seattle in the playoffs two years ago.

Kevin Burnett brought down Demps on the return at the Eagles' 24, bringing out McNabb and company for their third possession. Westbrook quickly went to work, picking up five yards in two carries, the Cowboys getting away with a facemask on the second. Going for his own home run, McNabb had Lewis open with a step behind cornerback Mike Jenkins, but the rookie was able to dive and knock the potential six points away to end any Eagles threat.

Starting at their own 27 after Adam Jones managed only a one-yard return off Saverio Rocca's 45-yard punt, Barber picked up another yard on his next carry, but then saw the drive came to an immediate halt. Romo, after ducking under one would-be sacker, tried to find wide receiver Miles Austin, but instead was picked off by Asante Samuel.

McNabb went for the end zone on the next snap, a play that resulted in cornerback Anthony Henry being called for pass interference. That set the Eagles up with first and goal as the second quarter got underway.

A false start moved Philly back five yards, but McNabb found Westbrook on a quick out to the left who scampered to the pylon for the Eagle's first score to bring his team back to within one, 14-13.

Isaiah Stanback took his turn at the next kickoff return, but struggled with the catch and forced Dallas to start on their own five. Things only got worse from there. A false start on Tony Curtis pushed them back to the two, then when the ball finally was snapped, Romo fumbled it into the end zone. Able to pick it up, he had it knocked loose again, allowing the Eagles to pounce on it for the six points and the lead, 20-17.

Back to return the next kickoff, Jones once again broke loose, this time bolting down the right sideline for 43 yards to the Dallas 44. Barber tried to break around the right side on a sweep, but was tripped up for no gain, which was then followed by an incompletion to bring on third and 10.

Romo found his tight end Witten for an 14-yard strike and first down, then handed off to Jones on a reverse around the left end for six more. Back to pass, Romo checked off to wide-open rookie Martellus Bennett on the right side, who rumbled down to the Philly 16 for 20 yards and another first down.

Barber tried to bounce to the right side again, but was met with a wall of Eagles players who held the runner to only one yard. Undeterred, Barber exploded up the middle on his next carry, powering his way down to the Eagles' four for a first and goal. The drive was complete when Romo once again connected with Owens on a slant play see-sawing the Cowboys back in front with a 24-20 score.

The Eagles took over on their own 28 after a 23-yard kickoff return by Demps, but McNabb went down with an eight-yard sack when Jay Ratliff broke loose from the outside. Westbrook earned some of that yardage back with a run up the middle for seven before McNabb found wide receiver Jason Avant, who was steamrolled by Watkins, but still managed to come down with the ball for a 12-yard pick-up. That was followed by McNabb finally hitting on the deep route when Jackson got behind the secondary for what looked like a 60-yard score.

But in a strange turn of the events, Jackson actually began his celebration prematurely, letting go of the ball before he ever crossed the goal line. Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips threw the red flag to challenge and the play was indeed overturned. The touchdown came off the board, but the Eagles were still set up at the Cowboys' one yard line.

Westbrook made the potential controversy null and void, diving over the top for the touchdown and another Philly lead, 27-24.

The Eagles kept Jones in check this time around as the rookie downed the kickoff for a touchback. Romo and Owens connected for what appeared to be big gain, but guard Corey Procter was called for holding to negate the play and back Dallas up 10 yards.

Now with first and 20, Barber was again stuffed for no gain on an attempted sweep around the right side. Romo found wide receiver Patrick Crayton across the middle for a seven-yard reception, but the quarterback's next attempt fell incomplete to bring on Mat McBriar for his first punt of the night. The Aussie booted the ball 55-yards with Jackson bringing the ball back 11 yards to get Philly's offense on the field again at their own 39.

McNabb found Avant sliding down the middle for an immediate 16-yard gain, but was sacked for seven yards on the next snap when the long arms of linebacker Greg Ellis found their mark. Lorenzo Booker brought in a short eight-yard reception, and then with time to spare in the pocket, McNabb hit Jackson on the left sideline for a 20-yard gain to keep the drive going.

With a first and ten at the Dallas 24, Westbrook was taken down for a one-yard loss thanks to a Chris Canty tackle. That loss was erased, however, by a Marcus Spears' five-yard hands to the face penalty on the next play, which brought an automatic first down for the Eagles. Westbrook was then stopped for no gain before the two minute warning sounded.

Seemingly wrapped up for a sack on the next play, McNabb somehow escaped and bolted 10 yards to the sideline to set his Eagles up with a first down at the Dallas 10. Westbrook took his next carry down to the Cowboys five, before McNabb threw to Booker on the sideline for no gain. With 1:05 left on the clock, McNabb couldn't find an open man and scrambled one yard to the four to bring on the field goal unit. Akers remained perfect on the night with a 22-yard field goal, upping the score to 30-21, their 24th point of the second quarter.

Taking the kickoff four yards deep in the end zone, this time Jones ran the ball out, taking the return to the Dallas 24. With 39 seconds on the clock, Romo dumped one off to Witten for three yards, then found his tight end again, this time streaking down the middle for a big 42-yard gain. Now with only seven seconds left in the half, Folk came on for a 51-yard field goal attempt, sneaking his kick just inside the left goal post to close out the half at 30-24, the second most points ever scored in a half during a Monday Night Football game.

Jones continued his kickoff return success with the start of the third quarter, this time going down the left side for a 31-yard run to get Dallas going on their own 34. Romo handed off to Barber on a misdirection that brought 18 yards and a first down, but tackle Flozell Adams then pushed the team back 10 yards with a hands to the face penalty.

Romo tried to quickly hit Bennett on an out to the right sideline, but missed his target, which was followed a handoff to Barber that was denied for a two-yard loss to bring up third down and 22. Romo hung one up for Bennett on the left sideline, but with the ball in his hands, safety Brian Dawkins knocked the reception away to bring on the punt unit.

Starting their next drive on their own 16 , the Eagles lost two yards on a Westbrook run, then saw McNabb's pass attempt to Jackson fall incomplete. With third and long, McNabb found Westbrook on the left flat, but he failed to move the chains and brought out the punter Rocca.

Jones took the 61-yard kick back to the Cowboys' 21 where Romo and company took over. Witten snagged a pass for six yards and then Barber picked up two more before Jones took a handoff up the middle for a three-yard gain and a first down.

Romo hit Tony Curtis on the right sideline for a four-yard gain, then dumped over the top to Barber, who plowed forward seven yards for another first down. Curtis was hit with a false start penalty, but defensive end Trent Cole was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty, which nullified the Dallas infraction and gave the Cowboys a first down at their own 42.

Barber found daylight up the middle on his next carry and broke loose for a 19-yard carry to get Dallas down to the Eagles 23-yard line. Romo returned to Curtis for a short three-yard pass across the middle then handed off to Barber for three more yards through the gut. With third and four, Romo lofted a pass to a streaking Barber down the left sideline, who caught the ball over his shoulder and cruised into the end zone. The Folk extra point put the Cowboys back on top, 31-30.

Demps took the kickoff at his own three and got out to the 26 before being taken down. McNabb stepped up from a Ware rush and checked off to Buckhalter for seven yards, which was then followed by Westbrook powering up the middle for another eight and a first down. A quick pass to Baskett on the left was dropped, but the receiver grabbed the next one for an eight-yard play. With a short third and one, Westbrook took a sweep around the right end and picked up the first down with a three-yard carry to the Dallas 48.

McNabb tried to hit Smith on a post pattern down the middle, but Zach Thomas was able to get a hand on the ball to knock away the attempt. But, McNabb came right back and found Jackson for 13 yards and a first down at the Dallas 35.

On the next snap, McNabb and Westbrook fumbled the exchange, but the running back was able to fall on it to avoid the turnover. The Cowboys then seemingly had McNabb sacked on the following play, but the quarterback scrambled and shoveled a pass to Westbrook who took it 18 yards down to the Dallas 28. A face mask penalty on Watkins moved the ball even further, setting up the Eagles with first and goal at the 14 as the quarter came to an end.

With the final quarter underway, Lewis caught a McNabb pass over the middle before being dragged down at the one, which led to Westbrook earning the score again with an extra effort into the end zone. Akers completed the drive, putting the visitors back on top 37-31.

Jones 27-yard kickoff return got Dallas started on their own 31, and with second and 10, Romo hit Barber on a screen play on the left side who rambled 25 yards to the Eagles' 44. Witten took the next pass for nine more yards with Barber going up the middle for a one-yard game and a first down at the Eagles' 34.

Romo tried to hit Witten on a deep route over the middle just missing the outstretched hands of his open tight end. Felix Jones then picked up one yard around the left end before Romo found Witten again for a quick four-yard strike, though short of the first down. Folk came on for a 47-yard field goal, burying the attempt to bring Dallas to 37-34.

Demps finally broke free on the Eagles kickoff return, who brought the Folk offering back 47 yards to give McNabb room to work in Dallas territory at the 45. The quarterback started by hitting Jackson for a six-yard gain, then found Lewis on the right sideline for another six yards and the first down at the Cowboys' 33.

McNabb and Westbrook once again had trouble with the handoff, but this time didn't come up so fortunate as Ratliff pounced on the ball for the Cowboys, the Eagles' first turnover on the night.

Romo went to work quickly, finding Crayton on a 16-yard pass for a first down. Barber then stumbled for a short two-yard carry before Romo found Miles Austin on the left side, the receiver's first catch of the season. Working from the shotgun, Romo fired to Austin again for the first down at the Eagle's 37-yard line, then went to Witten deep over the middle again, this time connecting for a big 32-yard completion down to the Philadelphia five-yard line.

With first and goal, Romo tried a quick out to Owens in the end zone with the Eagles Samuel getting flagged for the pass interference call. Barber tried to power behind the right side, but was stopped short, then battled his way around that same right side for the touchdown, giving Dallas the lead once more, 41-37, with 4:35 left in the game.

Demps got the Eagles started on their own 22 where McNabb quickly tried to hit Avant down the right side, the pass falling short for an incompletion. With second and 10, McNabb hit Westbrook on a screen, a play that was marched backwards thanks to an illegal block in the back by tackle Todd Herremans. McNabb got his team back to third and eight with a strike to his tight end Smith, but then threw over the head of Westbrook to force a punt.

Adam Jones took the bouncing punt to the Dallas 31, but an illegal block in the back penalty by Bobby Carpenter brought the gain back to their own 21. Barber bounced off one tackle to pick up six, then gained one, Philly calling time outs after both plays. With third and three, Romo had Barber wide open on the left flat thanks to an all-out blitz by the Eagles, but the pressure caused Romo to miss his running back, setting up a punt.

Jackson got little gain on the punt return, then saw his team head the wrong way courtesy of a holding call on teammate Demps. McNabb tried to hit Lewis on the left sideline, but his receiver couldn't control it before running out of bounds. Forced out of the pocket on the next play, McNabb scrambled nine yards to bring up a third and two, which was converted by Westbrook who picked up the first down. A face mask penalty on Ratliff then added 15 more yards to the drive, giving the Eagles first down at the Philadelphia 49.

Now with under two minutes remaining , Ellis broke in to pick up his second sack of the night and back Philly up three yards. Under pressure again, McNabb stepped up and tried to hit Avant, but was incomplete, bringing up third and 13. Again the quarterback was besieged, McNabb scrambling to his right before Ware chased him down, setting up a fourth and 17 with 1:10 left in the game.

Philly tried the old hook and ladder, McNabb firing out to Jackson, who flipped it to Baskett, who then lateraled to Westbrook. But, team's workhorse ran out of room on the sideline, bringing an end to the Eagle's hopes.

Romo took two knees and that was it, the Cowboys moving to 2-0 with a 41-37 victory in the last game ever to be played on Monday night at Texas Stadium.
