GREEN BAY, Wis. - For Tony Romo, this was no homecoming trip. Much had been made of Romo coming back to play here at Lambeau Field against a team he rooted for growing up, but Romo downplayed it all week.

He'll probably tell you he would've liked to play better in front of the home-state crowd. His 17-of-30, 260-yard and one-touchdown effort was a season low so far, though there are probably 20 quarterbacks in the league who wouldn't complain. Romo threw a costly interception in the first quarter and finished with a quarterback rating of 82.6 in the Cowboys' 27-16 victory over the Packers before a record crowd at Lambeau Field Sunday night.

Romo grew up in Burlington, Wis., before leaving the state for Eastern Illinois University. Romo said pressure from Green Bay's defensive front had much more to do with some of his struggles than any jitters caused by playing in front of his neighbors.

"I wouldn't say it was extra pressure," Romo said. "There's pressure every week on winning the game and doing what you've got to do to win. I think that it was fun. It was fun to come back here and play at a place that you watched."

Romo had visited Lambeau for a preseason game once growing up, and as the third quarterback in 2004. He didn't play in that game, and was hardly noticeable compared to his featured role in this one. Sunday was the first time he had been here in a featured role, and he said he was entirely focused on football, not looking in the stands for familiar faces.

"I had been here in '04, so that was more the nostalgic trip," Romo said. "This one was enjoyable because the Packer fans are good fans and they appreciate two good teams playing."

But no matter how much he might have struggled and been under pressure of the Packers pass rush - he was sacked for the first three times in the season, Romo did complete a 63-yard pass to Miles Austin to set up one second-half touchdown and then connected with Austin for the game-clinching 52-yard touchdown.
