TED GONZOL - PEORIA, AZ: Last year we came out of the final cuts with seven cornerbacks, then released Evan Oglesby to sign Keith Davis. Don't you feel we are very light there going into our first game, with only four corners on the roster? Is there help on the way?
Nick: It does seem a little light and I would imagine the Cowboys have something in the plans. But for this one game, I don't think it's an issue. You've got four healthy cornerbacks, that's all you need. If you had eight corners on the roster, only four would suit up. So for this game, it's fine. For the long-term, I would expect some help at cornerback.
Rob: I would've said very light had Alan Ball not returned to practice Monday. They probably need another corner for depth, which is why I thought they'd keep Mike Mickens on the 53. They can get by with four as long as nobody gets hurt, which isn't exactly comforting. The bigger issue, to me, is their depth at inside linebacker. Bobby Carpenter is pretty much it, although Steve Octavien has worked there.
Josh: Yeah, I don't think four cornerbacks will work for very long. They can get through until someone gets hurt, because four is enough to take to the game - though I would rather have five since it's not impossible for two corners to get hurt the same game, and then you can't run your subpackages. But I think they would call up Mike Mickens if one went down, and you may see them add a corner in the coming weeks anyway, just for depth.
RANDY SEEDLE - WAKE VILLAGE, TX: Do you see Wade Phillips churning the bottom of roster the further? How comfortable are the Cowboys with the players that they have?
Nick: I think something will be done with the offensive line. I just can't see five backups being here, particularly three interior players. It's not really Wade's style to shuffle players in and out like Bill Parcells did. Phillips believes in rewarding those guys who have earned a spot and doesn't exactly use fear for a job as motivation. I'm sure there are cases for both scenarios. But I would imagine a few more moves coming up here because they're needed. But Wade probably won't be making a change for the sake of changing.
Rob: Phillips says he's comfortable with the depth, but they've shuffled the bottom of the roster more than I can ever remember during his tenure. Some of that has to do with injuries. Some of it has to do with upgrading talent and finding players who can help on special teams. It's probably a trend that will continue as long as they've got some instability at certain positions.
Josh: It's going to change at some point. Doubt they carry both Cory Procter and Duke Preston for the whole season since they do pretty much the same thing. And then there's the secondary, where, as mentioned above, they could use another corner. Wade likes to have continuity on the 53, which is fine, I suppose. You like to at least have guys who know your system, and that's what a stable roster gives you.
