CARL STANLEY - GRAND PRAIRIE, TX: I am so sick of Roy Williams' drops at key times. I know we have a lot invested in him, but why can't the Cowboys use their young talent more? I would love to see Kevin Ogletree or Sam Hurd get more playing time. At least they would catch the ball. What is your take on this?
Nick: How do you know they would catch the ball? We've seen these guys in a very limited role and there is a reason for that. I don't know, I'm just not as fed up with Roy as other people seem to be. I think he makes a difference and he's playing well here of late. With this offense, some players will have bigger roles than others, depending on the coverage. I just don't think benching Roy is the answer.
Josh: I think he's the second best receiver they have. There's no need for Tony Romo and Jason Garrett to go out of their way to get him the ball, but when it does come his way he needs to do a better job of catching it. He knows it. But I am like you, in a way. I would like to see more opportunities for Ogletree, and I think he's going to get more of them.
Rob: I place this under the "Marion Barber" category - he definitely needs his touches, but Felix Jones and Tashard Choice do, too. I'd like to see a bit more of Ogletree and Hurd, but Williams had been making more plays in recent games (five TDs in his last six). Of course, it all depends on what your expectations are of Williams based on money, etc. He does need to make those catches, though.
FRANK HERNANDEZ - ODESSA, TX: Why would we get rid of one struggling kicker for another who can't make critical field goals? I don't get it.
Nick: Neither do it. I see the point in making a change but I'm not sure this was the right one, for the very reason you just mentioned. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Josh: As far as I know Shaun Suisham was the best kicker available. It's too bad for Nick Folk, but the Cowboys had to make a change. When you look at the alternatives to Suisham, nothing really stands out.
Rob: Well, he hasn't missed nearly as many as Folk did. He's 18-for-21 this year, and the Redskins gave him a pretty quick hook after three misses in two losses (Cowboys, Saints). You can argue the Cowboys should have been more impatient with Folk, too. But I do think a big factor is Suisham's experience and comfort level kicking at FedEx Field. Right now the Cowboys are simply looking game-to-game and trying to make the playoffs, not who their long-term kicker is. This is a great opportunity for Suisham.
