STEVEN STRASSMAN, HEATHROW, FL: I believe Mickey had predicted that the problem with Pacman was that you couldn't trust him as a key player for your team. Now he's worked his way into the starting lineup with the injury to T-New, and all of a sudden we have Pacman Jones instead of Adam Jones. Do you guys think this could possibly be the beginning of the end for him despite no disciplinary actions made by the team?

Josh: The beginning of the end? I don't know that. The Cowboys are hoping he has learned something from this incident, and the particulars of the case don't seem nearly as bad as anything that he got into when he was a Tennessee Titan. As Jerry Jones said yesterday, it's hard to imagine all the differences two people would have if they were forced to spend so much time in each other's shadow, essentially. But I think Pacman understands what he has to do, and maybe this was the push he needed to get back on the right track.

Rob: That's for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to decide, and you can bet he's taking a long, hard look at this situation. One can argue it's difficult to suspend Jones when no charges were filed, but his past issues could work against him here. Any action taken by the league would be a huge blow to the secondary given Terence Newman's injury and the fact that the Cowboys have committed to Jones being a significant part of their defense, no matter that he carries little financial risk.

Mickey: Just because there is no disciplinary action taken by the Cowboys doesn't mean the NFL will allow him to skate. And as for trusting him, I'd have a lot more sleepless nights now knowing I was counting on him to be a starter instead of just a nickel guy. We'll see how he handles the responsibility, but obviously this is not a good start.

FRED LONDON, SYLVA, NC: I never quite understood the reasoning behind moving Courtney Brown from his natural cornerback position to safety during training camp last season. It would appear that to have a cornerback with his combination of size and speed would have been something the team would have wanted to invest in. Your thoughts?

Josh: I think the decision was made based on the needs of the team at that time. Evidently they thought Alan Ball had a brighter future as a cornerback than Brown did. You realize those combinations of size and elite speed will work at every position across the board, right? Why not have a really fast, bigger safety. Brown was then, and is now, a project. He seems to be doing some okay things in the few snaps he has taken in the dime defense recently, though.

Rob: Brown's fast enough to play corner in this league, but the Cowboys thought his size (6-1, 205) and range were tailor-made for safety. The other seventh-round pick from 2007, Alan Ball, would have to step up in the potential worst-case scenario - if both Newman and Jones were unable to play. The Cowboys would need another dime corner if Anthony Henry were to continue playing inside in that package. But let's not get ahead of ourselves - the league hasn't announced a decision on Jones yet.

Mickey: The Cowboys were a tad crowded at the cornerback spot and needed some depth at safety and thought that was the best position to give Brown a chance to make the 53-man roster. They liked the way he flowed to the ball. But I'd think if they have depth problems at corner he could always move back there once Roy Williams and Pat Watkins return.
