(Editor's Note: Each day we will take the 2 best questions for our staff writers to answer from the Mailbag. "Click here" to email questions now.)

RANDY MERRILL REDLANDS, CA: I know this is just the mini-camp, but with the strong safety position lacking last year, I'm curious as to how Gerald Sensabaugh has looked in coverage from your point of view.

Rob: Good question, because even in these no-contact practices we can get some idea about how the secondary moves and looks. Sensabaugh is very fast and has good range, and the Cowboys feel like they won't be mismatched anymore against opponents that split out a tight end or a back. That's encouraging. Sensabaugh said Jacksonville tried him some at corner and he often matched up one-on-one with Hines Ward against Pittsburgh. If your strong safety can cover like that, you're in good shape. The Cowboys need him to.

Josh: I think you can go ahead and pencil him in as the starter. He's certainly got some speed and quickness the Cowboys didn't have in Roy Williams, or Keith Davis for that matter. He seems to be sticking with tight ends pretty well, and we've seen him bat down a couple passes over the last month. If he can stay healthy the Cowboys should be a lot better at safety just because of the added stability. All the coaches have raved about what he brings.

Mickey: Looks like a significant improvement to me. But again, they are just running plays here. No tackling. No contact. No one is trying to take advantage of any perceived weaknesses. But Sensabaugh runs better than Roy Williams and appears to have much better coverage skills.

ROB QUEEN MADISON, MS: All I keep hearing is how we lack of a deep threat. As fast as Felix Jones is, can't we move him around on offense and put him out wide on some plays? Just got to think he would scare some defenses and force them to respect the long ball.

Rob: That's absolutely the plan. For Felix it's more about touches than carries, and the Cowboys need him to be a blitz-buster in the passing game. Defenses must think twice about sending the house at Tony Romo when Jones is in the game because he's so good in space.

Josh: You saw them do that in the first game against Washington. Felix never touched the ball that game, but he motioned out wide and the coverage changed, opening things up for a Jason Witten touchdown. He should be more involved in the passing game this year than last. Even though Felix has been out the last couple of days, we've seen the offense motion Tashard Choice out wide some. You have to think that would be Felix if not for the quad contusion he suffered Monday.

Mickey: Well, that's what they are doing, and were starting to do last year before he suffered the torn hamstring that caused the toe injury in need of season-ending surgical repair. As they say, there are different ways to skin a cat, and another way is to unleash Miles Austin, as long as he shows teams they must respect his underneath route-running ability.
