Stephen was the anchor on an LSU offensive line that returned four
starters in 2003...He moved to right guard during the spring and
played there in 2003 after starting 25 games over the previous two
seasons at left guard...He is a big and strong player who plays with
a great deal of intensity...Tough as nails competitor who is
relentless, he was called the "the heart and soul of the LSU line" by the team�s coaching staff...A
throw-back player who thrives in the trenches, he is a converted tight end, who has also played
on the defensive side of the football during his career with the Tigers...He blocks with equal
effectiveness on running or passing situations...Appeared in 48 games for the Tigers, starting 35
times...Powerful drive blocker that will strike with good force and pop...Mauler-type for the
ground game who can get low to base block and root out the defensive tackle...Plays with an
aggressive nature, showing a very physical hand jolt on the short pull to take defenders
down...Can easily anchor vs. the defensive tackle and looks to help when uncovered...Can strike
and get movement on a defender in his initial burst...Uses his hands with great efficiency to get
under the defender, locking on with force to sustain...Has the anchor and wide leg base needed

2003 SEASON
All-American first-team selection by The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated and ESPN, adding
third-team honors from The NFL Draft Report...All-Southeastern Conference first-team pick by
the Associated Press and College Football News, earning second-team accolades from the
league�s coaches...Participated in 797 plays, leading the team with 149 key blocks (128
knockdowns, 21 pancakes) while allowing only one sack...Was penalized nine times as he
helped the offense average 418.4 yards per game.
Arizona...Registered ten key blocks (eight knockdowns), including one that leveled middle
linebacker Joe Sciofele as Stephen cleared a rush lane used by Joseph Addai for an 8-yard
touchdown run as the offense totaled 481 yards.
Georgia...Executed a block in the backfield to level defensive end Dave Pollack, giving QB Matt
Mauck time to throw a game-winning 34-yard scoring pass to Skyler Green, posting 14 key blocks
(10 knockdowns) as the team gained 285 yards in a 17-10 decision.
Auburn...Had thirteen key blocks (10 knockdowns) and upended defensive tackle DeMarco
McNeal on Mauck�s 16-yard touchdown throw to Devery Henderson as the Tigers collected 381
yards.
Mississippi...Gave up his only sack for the season, but made up for the miscue with a season-high
19 knockdowns...Shoved defensive tackle Jesse Mitchell to the ground on a 53-yard scoring
strike from Mauck to Henderson.
Arkansas...Followed with 13 knockdowns and pancaked linebacker Caleb Miller twice on
touchdown runs of 2 & 23 yards by Justin Vincent as the LSU ground game gained 250 yards.
Oklahoma (Sugar Bowl)...His block on defensive tackle Tommie Harris gave Vincent room to
score on an 18-yard run and later took down defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek on a 24-yard
touchdown run by Green to help the team win the national title in a 21-14 Sugar Bowl victory.
2002 SEASON
All-Southeastern Conference first-team pick by the league�s coaches and the Associated Press...
Stared all year at left offensive guard, appearing in 869 plays...Registered 98 key blocks (80
knockdowns) and allowed only one quarterback sack for an offense that averaged 350.0 yards
per game...Graded at least 80% for blocking consistency in all but one contest (Auburn).
The Citadel...Cleared a rush lane used by halfback Domanick Davis for a 22-yard scoring run
and later took down defensive end Cliff Washburn to spring QB Matt Mauck for a 6-yard
touchdown jaunt as the team totaled 400 yards.
Louisiana-Lafayette...His block took down linebacker Ross Brupbacher on a 20-yard scoring
strike from Mauck to Devery Henderson, making ten knockdowns to help the squad amass 359
yards.
Kentucky...Added fourteen knockdowns and cleared a path used by Joseph Addai for a 63-yard
scoring run as the offense generated 477 yards.
Mississippi...Picked up the blitz with a block on linebacker Eddie Strong that gave QB Marcus
Crandall a chance to find Henderson with a 19-yard touchdown pass, finishing with eight
knockdowns.
Texas (Cotton Bowl)...Graded 85% and delivered twelve key blocks (nine knockdowns), leading
the way on a 10-yard scoring run by Davis.
2001 SEASON
Started every game, except vs. Mississippi at left offensive guard...Collected 78 key blocks and
allowed only one quarterback sack to pace an offensive unit that averaged 451.5 yards per game.
Florida...Earned team Player of the Week honors as he accounted for eight knockdowns,
including one that brought down linebacker Matt Farrior on a 9-yard scoring pass from QB Rohan
Davey to Michael Clayton as the team piled up 515 yards.
Arkansas...Again earned Player of the Week honors, collecting nine key blocks (seven
knockdowns)...Blocked defensive end Carlos Hall on a 62-yard touchdown run by LaBrandon
Toefield as the Tigers amassed 518 yards.
2000 SEASON
Played in five games as a reserve defensive end, recording 8 tackles (2 solos) with three stops
for losses of 11 yards...Moved to the defensive line from tight end during fall camp.
