Four-year starter who moved into the lineup early in his freshman
season...Possessing exceptional football character, Sean is an
unbelievable worker in the weight room and will make that extra effort to
improve himself...Joined the Eagles as a defensive end, but found a
home on offense when he shifted to tight end as a sophomore...Called
the "most competitive player in the Big East" by USA Today, Sean caught 75 passes for 950
yards (12.7 avg) and 12 touchdowns in 37 games on offense...He also recorded 48 tackles (31
solos) with an 18-yard sack, three stops behind the line of scrimmage on defense, two pass
deflections, a fumble recovery and a quarterback pressure...His 12 scoring catches rank second
in school history among Eagle tight ends (sixth overall)...Called the "hardest worker on the team"
by the BC coaching staff...Physical blocker with the power to dominate larger defensive lineman
and the quickness to separate from linebackers on pass routes...Has the body control to easily
adjust to the poorly thrown pass... Very agile for a player his size, doing a nice job with his juking
and head fakes to sell and con the defenders in attempts to gain separation...His acceleration off
the line allows him to get into his patterns, showing urgency in his patterns...Very effective using
his leg drive and hand extension to avoid the jam (takes no false steps and shows no hesitation in
his release)...His patterns are very crisp for a player his size, showing good route definition and
the ability to uncover with his body control and quickness...Provides the quarterback with a big
target (one that will adjust and compete for the contested ball)...Seals the corner with authority
and has the range to get out and lead on sweeps...Maintains concentration going up for the ball in
a crowd and the toughness needed to fight for additional yardage after the catch...Has above
average body flexibility, making twisting adjustments to reach the ball at its high point...Runs
hard, using his lower body power to run over defenders...Can make proper adjustments blocking
in space, using his hands effectively to tie up the defenders long enough when working in the
second level.
2003 SEASON
All-Big East Conference second-team and Super Sleeper Team selection by The NFL Draft
Report...Listed as the most underrated player in the NCAA Division 1-A ranks at his position by
The Sports Xchange...Ranked second on the team with 35 receptions for 447 yards (12.8 avg)
and six touchdowns through twelve games...His 32 catches were the most by a BC tight end in a
season since Pete Mitchell caught 55 passes in 1994...Only Mitchell (seven in both 1993 and
1994) had more touchdowns in a season among Eagle tight ends...Recorded 5 tackles (2 solos),
recovered a fumble and deflected two passes.
Wake Forest...Began the season with 5 catches for 78 yards and an 18-yard score.
Penn State...Did not catch any passes, but executed a block on defensive tackle Ed Johnson to
clear the way for a 1-yard touchdown run by tailback Horace Dodd.
Connecticut...Led the way on an 8-yard scoring run by Dodd and assisted Chris Miller in tackling
punt returner Brandon Young on a 2-yard runback.
Miami...Made a sensational tackle, leaping through the wedge to bring down punt returner
Roscoe Parrish and had an 8-yard reception.
Ball State...His block up-field took down linebacker Justin Riley, clearing away the final obstacle
on a 42-yard touchdown run by halfback Derrick Knight and also caught 4 passes for 36 yards
with scores of 1 & 2 yards.
Temple...Had two catches for 31 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown on a third-down play.
Syracuse...Prevented a turnover when he alertly pounced on a fumbled punt return by the
Eagles' Nat Hasselbeck and caught 2 passes for 16 yards.
Notre Dame...Had a 25-yard catch.
Pittsburgh...Both of his receptions were good for first downs, finishing with 36 yards.
West Virginia...Earned Big East Player of the Week honors from The Sports Xchange, as he
caught a career-high 8 passes for 90 yards with 9 & 11-yard touchdowns, made an assisted
tackle and blocked linebacker Grant Wiley on a 1-yard scoring run by half- back Horace
Dodd...His eight receptions were the most by a BC tight end in a game since Pete Mitchell had
eleven catches vs. Rutgers in 1994.
Rutgers...Added 51 yards on 4 catches and assisted Paul Shean in tackling punt returner Tre
Moses...His 7 & 16-yard catches during a second quarter 63-yard drive set up a 27-yard
touchdown run by halfback Derrick Knight.
Virginia Tech...Caught 3 passes for 37 yards, making a sensational block that brought down
cornerback DeAngelo Hall and Rover Michael Crawford as Knight turned the right corner for a 3-
yard touchdown run in the first quarter...Sean then prevented a touchdown on a punt return by
bringing Hall down from behind on a 26-yard run in the third quarter.
Colorado State (San Francisco Bowl)...Closed out his career with 38 yards on 3 catches.
2002 SEASON
Second-team All-Big East Conference choice...Recipient of the Orrie T. Scarminach '71 Memorial
Athletic Scholarship...Started all year at tight end, catching 23 passes for 280 yards (12.2 avg)
and three touchdowns...Credited with six touchdown-resulting blocks, adding 21 yards on two
kickoff returns (10.5 avg)...Led the special teams coverage units with 10 tackles (8 solos).
Connecticut...Made a solo tackle on the punt coverage unit.
Stanford...Caught 2 passes for 8 yards and a 3-yard touchdown and teamed with right tackle
Mark Parenteau to take down defensive end Matt Leonard on a 12-yard game-winning
touchdown run by Derrick Knight with 0:36 left in a 34-27 decision.
Miami...Prevented a touchdown on a punt return when he tackled Ethenic Sands and picked up
28 yards on 3 catches.
Central Michigan...Made 2 catches for 35 yards.
Virginia Tech...His block on Willie Pile prevented a blitz, giving QB Brian St. Pierre the space
needed to score on a 1-yard run.
Pittsburgh...Twice tackled Shawn Robinson on punt returns and caught 2 passes for 19 yards,
including a 15-yard touchdown.
Notre Dame...Paced a strong special teams effort (BC gave up 17 yards on kickoffs) with 3
tackles (2 solos) and caught 2 passes for 12 yards.
West Virginia...Had 3 receptions for 33 yards.
Syracuse...Provided big plays on special teams and offense, catching 6 passes for a career-high
105 yards and a 7-yard touchdown...Also made a crunching tackle on Jamel Riddle to prevent a
punt return (held to 2 yards) while also delivering a block that took down linebacker Clifton Smith
on Knight's 5-yard scoring run...Earned Game MVP honors, along with Derrick Knight.
Rutgers...Recorded a solo tackle.
Toledo (Motor City Bowl)...Returned a short kickoff 9 yards and made a solo tackle.
2001 SEASON
Moved to tight end, starting every game...Finished fifth on the team with 17 catches for 223 yards
(13.1 avg) and three touchdowns...Recovered an onside kickoff (minus 1 yard) and recorded 4
tackles (3 assists).
West Virginia...In his first game on offense, he made two catches for 25 yards and took down
defensive end David Upchurch on a 67-yard scoring burst by tailback William Green.
Stanford...Added 31 yards on 2 receptions.
Navy...Scored his first career touchdown on a 2-yard catch, adding a 7-yard catch later in the
game...Also teamed with right guard John Richardson to level defensive tackle John Brindel on
Green's 58-yard touchdown run.
Army...Had an 8-yard reception and an assisted tackle.
Temple...Recovered an onside kickoff and caught 2 passes for 27 yards.
Pittsburgh...Credited with two tackles on the punt coverage unit and made 3 catches for 58
yards, including a 26-yard touchdown (had two defenders draped on him going for the catch).
Notre Dame...Posted an assisted tackle and had a 13-yard catch.
Miami...Caught 2 passes for 29 yards and a 9-yard score.
Rutgers...Joined right tackle Leo Bell in upending defensive end Ryan Neill on a 1-yard
touchdown run by halfback Derrick Knight.
Georgia (Music City Bowl)...Closed out the year with a 20-yard reception.
2000 SEASON
Started six regular season games (Navy, Virginia Tech, Connecticut, Syracuse, Notre Dame and
Pittsburgh) and the Aloha Bowl (Arizona State) at weakside defensive end...
Recorded 29 tackles (20 solos) with an 18-yard sack, three stops for losses of 21 yards and a
quarterback pressure.
West Virginia...Made his collegiate debut by tackling tailback Avon Cobourne behind the line of
scrimmage.
Army and Rutgers...Posted 3 tackles (2 solos) in each game.
Navy and Virginia Tech...Credited with 4 hits (3 solos) in each contest.
Syracuse...Registered a season-high 6 tackles (5 solos).
Temple...Delivered two solo tackles and registered his first career sack, dropping QB Mike Frost
for an 18-yard loss.
Notre Dame...Had 4 tackles (2 solos), including one that stopped tailback Tony Fisher for a 2-yard
loss in the fourth quarter.
Arizona State (Aloha Bowl)...Made a solo tackle.
1999 SEASON
