2003 SEASON (JETS)
- Stepped in for the injured Chad Pennington and started the first seven games of the season, totaling 123
completions in 198 attempts (62.1%), good for 1,385 yards with seven touchdown passes and just two
interceptions for a passer rating of 90.6 on the campaign.
- Was the second-string QB in games eight through 16, and did not play.
- Completed seven of eleven passes for 112 yards in game seven at PHI with no INTs and one TD, a 60-yard
pass to Santana Moss on a flea-flicker.
- Led the team to a come-from-behind 19-14 win at HOU in game six, completing 15 of 29 passes for 182 yards
and one touchdown with no interceptions. His 18-yard TD pass to Santana Moss in the first quarter was the
250th of his career, coming in his 200th career game played. He also had a key 13-yard run for a first

with WR Laveranues Coles.
- Active, but did not play in games five through 15.
- Was zero for four passing in game four at JAX before leaving the game with a shoulder injury.

2001 SEASON (JETS)
- In the Jets' AFC Wild Card game at OAK, Testaverde completed 27-of-41 passes for 277 yards with no INT and
three TD for a passer rating of 109.5. Connected on TD passes of 17 yards and four yards to WR Wayne
Chrebet and a three-yard strike to FB Richie Anderson.
- In game 16 win at OAK which sent the Jets into the playoffs, Testaverde completed 18-of-29 passes for 230
yards with one TD and two INT for a passer rating of 69.6. He engineered a fourth quarter comeback win
with the Jets trailing 22-21 with 3:12 left and took the Jets from their own 29 yard-line to the OAK 35, setting
up John Hall 53-yard FG with :59 left and putting the team ahead for good.
- Completed 20-of-38 passes for 235 yards and two INT in game 15 vs. BUF.
- Threw for a season-high 285 yards on 28-of-47 passing with two TD and two INT for a 73.4 passer rating in
game 14 win at IND and was named the AFC Player of the Week (sixth time in his career he has earned
Player of the Week honors).
- Engineered a comeback win with the Jets trailing 28-22 with 2:48 left when he took over and marched the Jets
76 yards in ten plays, culminating in a six-yard TD pass to TE Anthony Becht. He had a highlight play on
the drive when he scampered for 12 yards and then alertly pitched the ball to Curtis Martin, who picked up
an additional 11 yards, setting the Jets up at the IND 21-yard line. His second TD of the game marked the
240th of his career and moved him into 15th place on the NFL's all-time TD passes list.
- In game 13 vs. CIN, Testaverde brought the Jets from a 14-3 deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter and rallied
the team to a 15-14 win over the Bengals and finished the day 17-of-28 passing for 196 yards and two TD, con-necting
on a pass to back-up TE James Dearth (one-yard TD pass) and the game-winner to TE Anthony Becht
(two yards). Moved into sole possession of 16th on the NFL's all-time TD passes chart, ahead of Jim Kelly on the
day and also passed Dave Krieg and moved into eighth place on the NFL's all-time passing yardage list.
- In game 12 at PIT, Testaverde completed 15-of-26 passes for 141 yards with no TD and no INT on the day for
a passer rating of 72.8.
- In game 11 vs. NE, Testaverde moved into a tie with George Blanda for the 15th most TD passes in NFL history (236)
when he connected with WR Laveranues Coles on a 34-yard strike in the first quarter and finished the day 18-of-32
passing for 172 yards with the aforementioned TD and two INT for a passer rating of 58.1 and was sacked
three times for -21 yards and added two rushes for 21 yards, including a 12-yard run on third down.
- In game ten, a 24-0 win at MIA, Testaverde managed the offense to a mistake-free game after the Jets defense
put the team ahead 7-0 in the first quarter. Testaverde then followed up with a 35-yard drive late in the sec-ond
quarter, capped by a perfect pass to Coles for a 17-yard TD to put the Jets ahead 14-0. For the day,
Testaverde completed 10-of-21 passes for 76 yards with one TD, his sixth game of the season without an
INT and had a long pass of 19 yards to Coles.
- In game nine win over KC, Testaverde ran a controlled offense which culminated in the team's 27-7 win when
he completed 17-of-27 passes for 170 yards and one INT for a passer rating of 65.4 and guided the Jets to
three TD drives and two FG conversions.
- In a game eight win at NO, Testaverde completed 13-of-22 passes for 145 yards with one INT and one TD for
a 75 passer rating and lead the Jets to their fifth win of the season in the hostile Superdome and connected
on a seven-yard strike to Coles in the second quarter that put the Jets ahead, 13-0.
- In game seven at CAR, Testaverde led the Jets to a 13-12 victory on the road with 21-of-34 passing for 181 yards
with a long of 26 yards and was intercepted three times on the day, his highest INT total of the season.
- Became just the ninth passer in league history to complete 3,000 passes.
- In game six vs. STL, Testaverde completed 9-of-13 pass attempts for 74 yards and added a seven-yard TD
toss to Anthony Becht in the second quarter to tie the game at seven.
- Suffered his first interception of the season when CB Aeneas Williams made a diving play on a pass intended
for Richie Anderson in the second quarter of play, ending a personal best streak of 175 attempts without an
INT, beating the previous best (1994-1995 w/ CLE) by one.
- His TD pass to Becht marked the 233rd of his career, moving him past Steve Young and into sole possession
of 16th place on the NFL's all-time TD pass list.
- In the team's comeback win (his 21st comeback win during his career) in game five vs. MIA, Testaverde com-pleted
15-of-22 passes for 168 yards and two TD. His first TD pass was a 22-yard pass to a leaping Coles
in the end zone, making the score 17-7 MIA, then connected with Coles at the beginning of the fourth quar-ter
on a 25-yard pass to put the Jets up 21-17, the final margin of victory.
- Tied Steve Young for 16th place on the NFL's all-time TD list with 232 on his final score to Coles.
- Directed the Jets to a 42-36 win in game four at BUF when he guided the offense to four TD, two Curtis Martin
runs and two TD passes, two yards to Anthony Becht and four yards to Richie Anderson and finished the
day 15-of-25 for 173 yards with the two TD and wasn't sacked. The game marked the fourth straight con-test
he wasn't INT.
- In game three vs. SF, was 11-of-24 passing for 202 yards with a long pass of 39-yards to Coles and directed
the Jets to two TD drives, culminated by Curtis Martin runs of two and one yards and averaged 17.5 yards
per completion on the night and wasn't intercepted for the third game in a row and he led the team to their
first victory of the season in game two at NE with 16-of-28 passing for 137 yards, no INT, and a passer rat-ing
of 70.1.
- Hit six different receivers with passes, including a long of 25-yards to Wayne Chrebet and completed 17-of-25
passes for 175 yards and two TD with no INT in the team's season opener against IND. Had a 114.6 pass-er
rating for the day. His first completion of the season was a 38-yard TD strike to second-year WR
Laveranues Coles to put the Jets up 7-0 in the first quarter and moved ahead of Troy Aikman (2,898) and
into tenth place on the NFL's all-time pass completion list.
2000 SEASON (JETS)
- Started all 16 games for the Jets after making the successful comeback from a torn Achilles and finished the
season 328-of-590 for 3,732 yards, 55.6 pct., 21 TD and 25 INT for a passer rating of 69.0.
- Led the NFL in attempts, was second in the AFC and fourth in the NFL in completions, third in the conference
in yards gained and sixth in the NFL.
- His 25 INT were a league-high and 21 TD were fourth in the AFC and tied for seventh in the NFL.
- Made the adjustment to a new offensive style which featured a pair of RB, Richie Anderson and Curtis Martin,
and spread the ball around to 14 different receiving options during the season, six of which had never had
an NFL reception prior to the beginning of the season.
- His five TD against MIA in game seven were the most by any QB in a game in 2000.
- Was only sacked 13 times on the season.
- In final game of the season at BAL, he attempted an astounding 69 passes, completing 36 of them for 481 yards, two
TD and three INT in the team's 34-20 loss to the Ravens and was only sacked once on the day by the top-ranked
BAL defense. The 481 yards were a career-high and the 69 pass attempts also marked a career-best.
- The 400-yard passing game marked the fourth 400-yard game of his career.
- Moved past Jim Everett and into 13th place on the NFL's all-time pass completions list in game 15 vs. DET.
- Injured his groin late in the first half in game 14 at OAK and didn't return to action in the second half.
- Had one of his best outings of the season, completing 26-of-41 passes for 295 yards and led the Jets to a 27-
17 win over the Colts in game 13 vs. IND and connected on scoring passes of 11-yards to Wayne Chrebet
and 13-yards to Dedric Ward.
- Moved into 10th place, ahead of Jim Kelly, in the NFL's all-time passing yardage list and hit six different
receivers on the day, including breaking rookie WR Windrell Hayes into the mix (4-84) and moved past
Boomer Esiason and into fourth place on the team's all-time passing yardage list.
- Earned his 21st career come-from-behind victory and was the star of the night in the team's thrilling 40-37 OT
win on MNF when he brought the Jets from a 30-7 deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter and directed
the team to a 40-37 OT win.
- Led the Jets to their fourth comeback win of the season and their third in the last two minutes with fourth quar-ter
stats of 18-25-236 and four TD with no INT, a perfect passer rating of 158.3. He hit four different
receivers for TD passes, including Chrebet (two), Coles (first career TD), Jumbo Elliott (first career TD), and
TE Jermaine Wiggins (first career TD) and was 59-36-378-5 TD-3 INT on the night and had one rushing
attempt for seven yards.
- Was eight-of-nine for 75 yards (88.9 pct.) for one TD rated him 138.4, tops in the NFL.
- Returned to action in game six at NE after being forced out of the previous game (pinched nerve) and led the
Jets to a 34-17 dominating win over the Patriots in Foxboro when he was 15-of-23 for 139 yards with a long
of 17-yards and no INT and was sacked three times for minus nine yards by a heavily blitzing defense.
- Started and lasted one play before being forced out of action with a pinched nerve in game five vs. PIT and
was zero-of-one passing.
- Racked up his 20th career comeback win in the Jets' thrilling 21-17 win over his former team in game four at
TB when he was 22-of-42 for 181 yards with one TD and three INT. He sat down for one series early in the
fourth quarter and came back and rallied the Jets from a 17-6 deficit.
- Pulled the Jets to 17-14 with 1:54 left in the game on a six-yard TD pass to Martin and then connected with
rookie Laveranues Coles on a two-point conversion and moved into seventh place on the team's all-time
passing yardage list on the day.
- Moved into 16th place on the NFL's all-time completion chart, ahead of former Bengal Ken Anderson.
- In game two vs. NE on MNF he directed the Jets to a thrilling comeback win over the Pats when he brought
the Jets back from a 19-7 deficit with 6:25 left in the game to 19-14 on a two-yard pass to Chrebet. He then
hooked up again with Chrebet with 1:55 left in the game on a 28-yard scoring strike.
- Was 37-16-281-3 TD-1 INT and was sacked twice for -10 yards.
- In the season opener at GB he returned to action after missing the final 15 games of the 1999 season and led the
Jets to a thrilling 20-16 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field, the first AFC team to win in GB in six years.
- He finished the day with 44-23-261-one TD-one INT. His eight completion of the day moved him past Phil
Simms and into 18th place on the NFL's all-time completion list and his 35th attempt moved him past
Simms on the all-time passing attempts chart.
- Hit on a long pass of 61 yards to WR Dedric Ward that set up a game-winning toss to Curtis Martin with 3:30
left in the fourth quarter.
1999 SEASON (JETS)
- Opened the season as the starting QB and was 10-15-96 yards-one INT and hit on a 27-yard TD pass to F-Back
Richie Anderson in the first quarter.
- Saw his season come to an end with a ruptured left Achilles tendon in the second quarter (Jets' 25th offensive
play of the game) of the season opener vs. NE at the NE 20-yard line on a play in which RB Curtis Martin
was stripped of the ball by DE Willie McGinest and Martin recovered.
- Testaverde attempted to make a move for the fumble but collapsed to the turf.
- Had surgery to repair the tendon following the game at Lenox Hill Hospital by Dr. Elliott Hershman and Dr.
Stephen Nicholas.
- Was placed on IR on September 13.
1998 SEASON (JETS)
- Played in 14 games in his first season with the Jets, making 13 starts and was IA for two games.
- Had the best season of his career, turning in a 421-259-3,256-61.5%-29 TD-7 INT passing performance and
earning the second Pro Bowl selection of his career.
- He was also named to the all-AFC team by Football News.
- His passer rating of 101.6 was a career high and led the AFC (second in NFL).
- He also ranked first in the AFC and fourth in the NFL with 29 TD passes, second in the AFC and fifth in the
NFL in completion percentage (61.5%), third in the AFC and fourth in the NFL in INT (seven) and fifth in the
AFC and seventh in the NFL in passing yards (3,256).
- His 29 TD were the second-most in his career and broke Joe Namath and Al Dorow's Club record of 26.
- His seven INT and 61.5% completion percentage were also career bests.
- Was 31-52-356-2 INT in the AFC Championship Game at DEN. The 31 completions and 52 attempts were
Jets' postseason records.
- The 356 yards were the second most in Club history behind Richard Todd's 377 vs. BUF in 1981.
- Led the team to their first postseason victory since 1986 with 24-36-284-1 TD-1 INT passing in 34-24 win vs.
JAX in AFC Divisional Playoff Game.

- Scored the deciding points in game 13 win vs. SEA with a controversial five-yard QB sneak on fourth-and-goal,
with :27 remaining. Television replays showed the ball didn't cross the goal-line and this play more than any
other, probably led to the re-instatement of instant replay. The score was his first rushing TD in two years.
- Was 42-63-418-1 INT-2 TD passing in SEA game. The 63 attempts and 42 completions were then career-highs
and set team records, and the performance was the fifth-best passing game in the NFL that season.
- He threw two TD passes in game 12 win vs. CAR. He was 33-21-237-2 TD and led the team on three second-half
TD drives in 24-3, game 11 win at TEN.
- He moved into 20th place on the NFL's all-time passing list with 12-28-249-1 TD-1 INT performance in game
10 at IND.
- Testaverde connected for three TD in game nine win vs. BUF.
- Led the team to one of their biggest road wins in recent history in game eight at KC when he was 20-34-260-1
TD-1 INT passing, including a 20-yard scoring pass to Kyle Brady in the fourth quarter that tied the game at
17-17. Then, in a driving rainstorm, he drove the Jets 25 yards in seven plays, in 1:50 to set up John Hall's
winning 32-yard FG with no time left.
- He became the first Jets QB to win his first four starts with 28-3 victory vs. ATL in game seven.
- Was 22-32-294-3 TD in game six win at NE on MNF, hitting nine different receivers and earning AFC Offensive
Player of the Week honors.
- Came in to replace Glenn Foley in third quarter of game five at STL and was 9-18-96-1 TD.
- Started his first game as a Jet and had a then career-high four TD passes in game three vs. IND, including a
season-long 82-yard screen play to RB Leon Johnson.

1997 SEASON (BAL)
- Started 13 games for the Ravens, throwing for 271-470-2,971-18 TD-15 INT.
- Passed Len Dawson, Y.A. Title, Craig Morton, Ken Stabler, Terry Bradshaw, Ron Jaworski and Joe Namath on
all-time passing yardage list.
- Missed the final three games due to a knee strain suffered in loss at JAX on 11/30.
- Had stellar game at TEN, throwing for 318 yards on 23-37 passing, in a 36-10 win.
- Put up impressive numbers in opener vs. JAX, with 24-41-322-3 TD-3 INT, and 32-47-331-1 TD-0 INT vs. MIA.
1996 SEASON (BAL)
- Named to the Pro Bowl as the third QB and was winner of the Baltimore QB Club's MVP Award.
- Started all 16 games for the Ravens in his best season as a pro to date, surpassing single-season highs in
passer rating, yards, TD, attempts and completions with 325-549-59.2-4,177-33 TD-19 INT-88.7 rating.
- His 33 TD finished second in NFL behind Favre's 39.
- Racked up seven three-TD games, and five 300-yard contests, both single-season career marks.
- Posted the league's 13th 4,000-yard, 30-TD year and the first by a QB on a team with a losing record.
- Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for 37-31 OT win vs. STL on 31-51-429 passing in that game.
1995 SEASON (CLE)
- Played 13 games (12 starts) for the Browns and finished tied for third in AFC with 87.8 passer rating.
- Completed a career-high 62% of his passes (241-392) for 2,883 yards, 17 TD and 10 INT.
- Registered a passer rating over 100 in five of 13 games.
- Named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, completing over 59% of his passes, an AFC-best
eight TD and one INT, while the Browns jumped out to a 3-1 start.
- Awarded a game ball for performance in win over TB on 9/10, going 17-27-256-2 TD-0 INT and a 118.8 passer rating.
1994 SEASON (CLE)
- Played 14 games (13 starts) for the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed an 11-5 season.
- Finished regular season 207-377-2,575-16 TD-18 INT and was sacked only 12 times.
- As a starter went 10-5, including the playoffs.
- In first playoff experience of his career, went 20-30-268-1 TD-0 INT in 20-13 Wild Card win over NE.
- Completion pct. and 106.0 passer rating were third-best in team playoff history.
- Missed two games during the season due to a concussion.
1993 SEASON (CLE)
- Played 10 games (six starts) for the Browns and went 130-230-1,797-14 TD-9 INT and an 85.7 passer rating
that ranked him third in the AFC behind Joe Montana and John Elway.
- Missed four games with a separated shoulder suffered 10/24 against PIT, a game that CLE won as he went 9-
14-167-2 TD.
- Set an NFL record by completing 91.3% of his passes (21-23) for 216 yards and two TD against the LA Rams
when as he completed the final 13 passes in the game and won AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
1992 SEASON (TB)
- Played and started 14 games for the Bucs, completing 57.5 % of his passes.
- Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after stellar outing in 31-3 win vs. GB on 9/13 after he was 22-25-
363-2 TD and a rushing TD. His 88% completion percentage in that game set a Bucs record.
1991 SEASON (TB)
- Played in 13 games (12 starts) and connected on 166-326 for 1,994 yards three TD and 15 INT for the Tampa
Bay Bucs.
- Suffered injured toe vs. BUF on 9/22 and missed next game.
- Chipped a bone in right thumb vs. PHI 10/6 and missed the next two weeks.
- Missed another game due to discomfort in his back.
- Did battle back for final game and led Bucs to a 17-3 win over IND.
- Best performance of year came against MIN on 12/8 as he went 23-41-330-2 TD-0 INT.
1990 SEASON (TB)
- Played 14 games (13 starts) as Bucs won six games in his presence, but none in his absence.
- Led NFL with 7.72 yards per pass attempt.

1989 SEASON (TB)

1988 SEASON (TB)
- Started all but one game and racked up 3,240 passing yards, good for fifth in the NFC and falling just short of
Williams' team record for passing yards in a game.

- Played six games (four starts) as heralded rookie and earned All-Rookie honors from UPI, Pro Football Weekly
and Football Digest.
- Enjoyed outstanding starting debut at NO on 12/6 and responded with then-NFL rookie single-game record 369
yards on 22-47 against one of the league's best defenses.
- Started the season's final four games.
COLLEGE/HIGH SCHOOL
- Came away with college football's ultimate honor, the Heisman Trophy.
- Captured numerous honors including: consensus all-America selection, the Davey O'Brien Award, Maxwell
Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year award, Washington, D.C. Touchdown Club College Athlete of the
Year award and Florida Amateur Athlete of the Year award.
- Was Miami's all-time career leader in passing yards with 6,058 and TD passes, with 48.
- Led the NCAA in passer rating his senior year, with a 165.8 mark, leading the Hurricanes to an 11-0 record.
- In his two years as a starter, Miami went 21-1 in the regular season, amassing 414 completion in 628 attempts
for 5,795 yards with 47 TD and 24 INT.
- Had seven 300-yard games.
- As a junior finished fifth in the Heisman race.
- Attended Fork Union Military Academy and played one year of prep ball before going to Miami.
- Earned Honorable Mention all-America at Sewanhaka HS in Floral Park, NY.

- Vinny and his wife, Mitzi, are the parents of daughter, Alicia Marie, and son, Vincent, Jr., and youngest daugh-ter

- A special education major at Miami.
- Named the Italian Athlete of the Year in 1986.
- Was honored with a large parade at Vinny Testaverde Day in Elmont on 4/25/87.
- Throughout his long career, Testaverde has been involved in numerous charity appearances and was the Jets'
United Way spokesman from 2000-2002.
- Has been an active supporter of the Jets' involvement with the New York State Troopers Survivors Foundation.
- Has been involved with numerous families of victims of the 9/11 catastrophe by hosting them at Jets practices
and games.
- Honored as True Value's Man of the Year in 1996.
- Enjoys golf, tennis, fishing and billiards in his spare time.
- Makes his home year-round on Long Island.
