Versatile athlete who has experience at both weak-side and
strong-side cornerback... Moved to the secondary as a
sophomore after playing tailback during his freshman year...
Voted captain by his teammates as a senior, Bruce provided solid
leadership after injuries depleted the defensive unit in his final
campaign...Started 34 of 38 games on defense and one of 11 games on offense during his
career...Finished with 129 tackles (94 solos), eight stops for losses of 24 yards, two quarterback
pressures, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, 21 pass deflections and four
interceptions...Also gained 230 yards with three touchdowns on 47 carries (4.9 avg), 13 yards on
three catches (3.3 avg) and 404 yards on 22 kickoff returns (18.4 avg)...Has quick foot movement
in his backpedal, showing speed in his transition...Best when making plays in front of him, staying
at a low pad level to wrap and secure...Has the burst to run with receivers down field and shows
good hands to extend and catch easily outside the body's frame...Plays with good effort and has
a knack for slipping past blocks working through traffic...Shows above average body control
when positioning and in his breaks.
2003 SEASON
Started in the first 13 games, lining up at strong-side cornerback in six contests (Clemson,
Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Florida, Georgia Tech and the SEC Championship vs. Louisiana State)
and at weak-side cornerback vs. Middle Tennessee, South Carolina, Louisiana State (game four),
Alabama, Alabama-Birmingham, Auburn and Kentucky...Finished seventh on the team with 54
tackles (43 solos), including three stops behind the line of scrimmage...Intercepted two passes
and deflected eight others...Also had a pair of quarterback pressures.
Clemson...Made 7 tackles (6 solos) and stopped Charlie Whitehurst for a 1-yard loss on a QB
draw.
Middle Tennessee...Added 3 hits (2 solos).
South Carolina...Followed with a 5-tackle (3 solos) performance.
Louisiana State...Deflected 3 passes, made 8 tackles (5 solos) and brought down tailback
Shyrone Carey for a 1-yard loss.
Alabama...Batted away 2 passes.
Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Auburn...Totaled a pair of hits in each game.
Florida...Had a solo stop and a pressure.
Kentucky...Tackled Arliss Beach for a 1-yard loss, delivered 2 solo tackles and deflected a pass.
Georgia Tech...Collected a season-high 8 solo tackles and picked off a pass.
Louisiana State (SEC Championship)...Intercepted a Matt Mauck pass, deflected another and
posted 4 tackles (2 solos).
Purdue (Capital One Bowl)...Closed out his career by delivering 6 solo tackles and batting down
a pass.
2002 SEASON
Named the team's Most Improved Defensive Back...Recipient of the Irvin M. Wofford Endowed
Football Scholarship...Played in thirteen games, starting eleven contests at strong-side
cornerback (came off the bench vs. Kentucky and Florida)...Played a major part as the defense
allowed only 31 second half points in their last seven games.
Clemson and South Carolina...Made a pair of tackles in each of the team's first two games.
Northwestern State (La.)...Had another 2 hits and returned a blocked punt 12 yards for a
touchdown.
Alabama...Brought down tailback Santonio Beard behind the line of scrimmage and was in on 7
solo tackles.
Florida...Registered a season-high 9 tackles...Caused a fumble when he stripped the ball from
tailback Earnest Graham after a 4-yard reception in the third quarter and recovered a fumble
when tailback Ran Carthon dropped the ball, advancing it 11 yards to set up a 25-yard field goal
by Billy Bennett in the second quarter.
Mississippi...Made 3 assisted tackles and intercepted an Eli Manning pass.
Kentucky, Auburn and Arkansas (SEC Championship)...Totaled 3 tackles in each game.
Florida State (Sugar Bowl)...Collected 2 solo tackles and returned an interception 71 yards for a
touchdown (second-longest interception return in school bowl annals).
2001 SEASON
Recipient of the Irvin M. Wofford Endowed Football Scholarship...Played in every game, starting
the first nine contests at weak-side cornerback...Recorded 32 tackles (27 solos) with a stop for a
3-yard loss...Deflected seven passes.
Arkansas State...In his first career start, he made 3 tackles and deflected 2 passes.
South Carolina...Recovered a fumble, batted away a pass and posted 4 solo hits.
Arkansas...Had 7 solo tackles and a pair of pass break-ups.

Played in every game as a tailback, starting vs. Tennessee...Carried 47 times for 230 yards (4.9

Georgia Southern...Made his collegiate debut with 36 yards on 7 attempts.
New Mexico State...Rushed 9 times for 69 yards with touchdowns of 1 & 16 yards.
