The Dallas Cowboys hired Ben Bloom during the 2011 offseason to serve as the club's defensive quality control coach and assist new linebackers coach Matt Eberflus. Bloom is entering his second season in the NFL as a coach after serving as a defensive assistant with the Cleveland Browns in 2010. He will continue to work closely with Eberflus in Dallas, who he worked with in Cleveland, as well as with Rob Ryan, the Cowboys new defensive coordinator. Bloom spent the 2009 season with the Browns as an assistant in team operations.
Prior to joining the Browns, Bloom served as an assistant defensive line coach at Harvard University during the 2008 season. He earned his master's degree in education from Tufts University, while serving as a graduate assistant defensive line coach there from 2005-07. Bloom also earned a bachelor's in history from Tufts where he was a three-year letter winner on the football team. He is a native of Wellesley, Mass.
