2005 DALLAS COWBOYS

  MILESTONES
  • Drew Bledsoe passes milestone- During the first week of the season on Sept. 11, 2005 against the San Diego Chargers, Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe became just the 10th player in NFL history to eclipse 40,000 yards passing for his career. He passed the mark on a 15-yard completion to Terry Glenn in the fourth quarter on a drive that resulted in the winning touchdown for the Cowboys. He finished the season with 43,447 passing yards.
  • Triplets Honored - On Sept. 19, 2005, quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Emmitt Smith and wide receiver Michael Irvin were honored before the Cowboys' Monday Night game against the Redskins. The Cowboys revealed a place on the storied Ring of Honor that encircles the Texas Stadium playing field for each player. Each retired from the Cowboys with the team record of yards gained at their respective positions.
  • Parcells Extends Deal and Winning Ways - Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells extended his contract with the Cowboys to include two more years just four days after the end of the 2005 season. The decision came on the heels of a season in which Parcells passed Hall of Fame coaches Bud Grant and Paul Brown to become the ninth winningest coach in NFL history.
