COLLEGE: With their second selection of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys addressed the defensive line with a raw and gifted athlete in Tyrone Crawford in the third round (81st overall). While with the Cowboys, the team will look to use his talent and size to the advantage of the defensive line rotation as he adapts to the pro game. During his final two collegiate seasons at Boise State, Crawford collected 76 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 27.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback pressures, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries – including one for a 32-yard touchdown – and blocked two kicks while starting 11-of-25 contests. Crawford began his collegiate career at Bakersfield, Calif., Junior College where he totaled 80 tackles, 14.0 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, six quarterback pressures, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in two seasons.

2011:

• Earned All-American Dream Team honors from The NFL Draft Report and was named All-Western Athletic Conference first-team by the league’s coaches as a senior.

• Part of a defensive line that led the WAC and ranked 17th nationally in run defense (110.0 yards-per-game) and first in the WAC in scoring defense (18.69 points per game; 12th in the country) and total defense (320.85 yards per game; 16th in the country).

• Started 11 games while leading the team – tied for fourth in the WAC – with 6.5 sacks.

• Also paced the Broncos with 13.5 tackles for loss, which ranked third in the conference, while also tallying 44 tackles, two quarterback pressures, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, returning one for a touchdown, and a blocked kick.

 

2010:

• Played in all 13 games as a reserve weak-side defensive end during his first season at Boise State.

• Received All-America honorable mention from Sports Illustrated.

• Finished second on the squad with 7.0 sacks and tied for the team lead with 13.5 tackles for loss.

• Recorded 32 tackles with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a pass deflection and a blocked kick.

• In the Wyoming clash, assisted on a sack and had a pair of stops behind the line of scrimmage.

• Posted three tackles with a 10-yard sack against San Jose State.

• Blocked a field goal try against Nevada.

• Posted a pair of sacks and four tackles against Utah State in the season finale.

 

2009:

• Received All-America, All-State and All-Southern California Football Association first-team honors in addition to being named the SCFA and National Northern Division Defensive Most Valuable Player honors at Bakersfield.

• Recorded 42 tackles and led the team and ranked eighth among the state’s junior colleges with 8.0 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

 

2008:

• Earned All-SCFA first-team honors at Bakersfield Junior College.

• Played in nine games, recording 38 tackles with 6.0 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

• Also recovered one fumble and deflected one pass.

 

PERSONAL:

• Attended Catholic Central High School, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, where he was a three-sport standout.

• In four seasons on the gridiron, including his last two campaigns serving as team captain, the two-way player earned All-Windsor & Essex County Secondary School Athletic Association first-team honors.

• As a junior, was named the association’s Most Valuable Player in football, and in 2006, was the recipient of the Royal Arcanium WECSSAA Outstanding Athlete Award for all sports.

• Lettered twice in track and field at Central Catholic, as he captured gold medals both seasons in the shot put at the WECSSAA, South Western Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association and Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships.

• Also won gold medals in the discus at the WECSSAA and SWOSSAA finals in 2004 and 2005.

• Added two more letters in basketball and was named the WECSSA Most Valuable Player in 2007, and was the recipient of the Bill Rogin Award, given to the top hoops player in the Ontario secondary schools.

• Was a physical education major.
