PRO: Marcus Dixon was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie free agent after the 2008 NFL Draft where he spent the entire season on the team's practice squad. With a developmental season under his belt, Dixon is expected to make a strong push during training camp for a spot on the team's active roster in 2009.
2008:
Was slowed through the preseason with a back injury, but played in the final game and had a tackle and a pass breakup.
Released at the final cut date but immediately signed to the Cowboys practice squad where he spent the entire season.
COLLEGE:
Finished his senior campaign third on the team with 58 tackles, including a team-best 16 for losses and a team-high tying six sacks.
Also broke up two passes, had eight hurries, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a blocked kick.
Added one catch for a 13-yard touchdown.
Was a second-team All-MEAC selection, starting all 11 games he played as a junior.
Saw time at defensive end and tackle and posted 25 tackles (third among linemen), 5.5 tackles for losses and four sacks (third on the team).
As a sophomore, started nine of the 10 games he played and was third among defensive linemen with 33 tackles with seven for losses, including 2.5 sacks.
Added his first career interception as a sophomore against Norfolk State.
Played in all 12 games as a true freshman and started six of the last seven contests.
Was seventh on the squad with 38 tackles and was fifth with nine stops for losses.
PERSONAL:
Lettered in football, basketball and track at Pepperell High School in Lindale, GA.
Recorded 98 tackles, 12 tackles for losses, three sacks and seven pass breakups as a junior defensive end to earn first-team all-area honors.
Placed third in the regional shot put and discus.
Was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated from Pepperell with a 3.96 GPA.
