COLLEGE: The Dallas Cowboys used their second selection in the third round (75th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft on Robert Brewster. Brewster, who primarily played offensive tackle at Ball State, will be looked upon as a swing tackle in Dallas, able to shift to either tackle position as well as possibly guard to provide versatility to the depth of the Cowboys offensive line. A starter the instant he stepped on the field, Brewster has made a start in all 50 collegiate games he has played in since joining the team as a true freshman.

2008:

  • As a senior starter at right offensive tackle for all 14 games, was a member of a front wall that saw BSU record 12 straight victories and a national ranking to mark the best start for a Ball State team since the 1965 campaign when the Cardinals won their first nine games of the season.
  • Helped the Cardinals score 33-of-48 times in the red zone, including 27 touchdowns and six field goals, as he produced 13 touchdown-resulting blocks through 14 games.
  • Named to Sports Illustrated's mid-season All-America second-team.
  • Added first-team All-Mid American Conference honors.
  • Started all year at right tackle, compiling a league-best 100 knockdowns to go with 14 touchdown-resulting blocks, as he graded 84.93% grade for blocking consistency.
  • The Rotary Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy candidate also led the MAC's offensive tackles with 10 blocks down field.
  • Was penalized only once and allowed only 2.5 quarterback sacks and one pressure on 405 pass plays.

  • All-Mid American Conference first-team choice starting all 13 games as a junior at right offensive tackle to lead the team and finish second in the league with 105 key blocks/knockdowns, including six down field blocks and 11 touchdown-resulting blocks.
  • Part of a front wall that helped the team improve its running attack that averaged 91.9 yards the previous season to 148.9 yards-per-game in 2007 with nearly 2,000 yards on the ground.
  • The squad ranked 31st in the nation, averaging 433.9 yards-per-game in total offense, improving from its 51st-national ranking in 2007, when the Cardinals averaged 351.3.
  • Blocked for an offense that tallied a school record 5,640 yards in total offense, including a school best 3,704 yards passing.
  • Helped protect Ball State quarterback Nate Davis, who set a Ball State single-season record with 30 touchdown passes and threw for a school record 3,667 yards.
  • Did not allow his main coverage assignment to register any statistics in the Navy and Northern Illinois games.
  • Made an assisted tackle against Western Kentucky and recovered fumbles in each of the Western Kentucky and Northern Illinois clashes.

2006:

  • Spent his entire sophomore season at right tackle, starting all 12 games.
  • Made 84 knockdowns/key blocks with nine touchdown-resulting blocks and six blocks down field, as the team struggled to establish a running attack, ranking 106th in the nation with an average of 91.9 rushing yards-per-game.
  • Allowed just two quarterback sacks and one pressure on 373 pass plays as the Cardinals finished 16th in the country with an average of 259.3 passing yards-per-game.
  • The front wall placed 81st in the country, allowing an average of 2.3 sacks-per-game.
  • Blocked for an offense that threw for a then school record 3,112 yards, completed a then school record 232 passes and 27 touchdown passes.

2005:

  • Was a full-time starter in all 11 games in his first season at Ball State as a true freshman.
  • Opened as the right tackle in the team's first four games before shifting to right guard for the final seven contests.
  • Was part of a front wall that helped the team average 189.0 passing yards-per-game.
  • Blocked for an offense that tallied 2,079 passing yards - the ninth-best single-season mark in Ball State history - and protected Ball State quarterback Joey Lynch, who threw for a then school record 18 touchdowns.

PERSONAL:

  • Attended Wyoming High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he played football and basketball.
  • Was named the Cincinnati Hills League Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, leading the team to a 7-3 record.
  • Also garnered all-state, all-city and "Tremendous 26" Division III Player of the Year accolades.
  • The team compiled a 34-11 record during his prep playing days.
  • Has a son, Jalen.
  • A criminal justice major, scheduled to graduate in July, 2009.
