2 Players Waived To Help Make Room For Return Of Hardy, R. McClain

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys waived defensive tackle Ken Bishop and linebacker Keith Smith on Monday, which helps create roster space with key defenders Greg Hardy and Rolando McClain set to be activated from the Reserve/Suspended list.

Placing running back Lance Dunbar on injured reserve would create another open roster spot. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team anticipates MRI results to confirm a torn ACL for Dunbar that will require surgery.

Bishop was active for three of the first four games, and Smith was active for all four. Neither recorded any defensive or special teams statistics.

Garrett said he expects Hardy and McClain to be full practice participants in their impending return from separate four-game NFL suspensions, and the team will monitor their progress.

Hardy participated in training camp and preseason games before his suspension took effect, while McClain spent the preseason rehabbing from a knee scope.

"We have to watch them and see how they're doing and how they're handling the work and adjust accordingly," he said.
