- Jason Witten – He made the memorable play in the Cowboys' 38-17 victory. NFL rules have since changed in that if a ball carrier loses his helmet in the middle of the play, the officials immediately stop play.

2. 55 years – On Sept. 20, 1970, running back Calvin Hill led the way with 117 rushing yards in a 17-7 Cowboys win.

3. The game was played on a Wednesday night – Originally scheduled for Thursday, the Cowboys opener at the New York Giants was moved up a day to accommodate the Democratic National Convention. Behind a career-high two touchdown catches from Kevin Ogletree, Dallas won, 24-17, in what remains the first of just two games ever played on a Wednesday.

4. 3 – Barry Switzer, Chan Gailey (pictured) and Wade Phillips won their first season openers coaching the Cowboys.

5. True – The first time Dallas ever faced Philadelphia came on Friday, Sept. 30, 1960, a 27-25 loss. The Cowboys' season opener this year marks the first time they will have ever met the Eagles on a Thursday night.

6. Roger Staubach – The Hall of Famer won nine times at the Eagles. Danny White has eight wins, Tony Romo seven and Troy Aikman three. Dak Prescott enters the game with five wins in Philly.

7. – Herb Adderley (3), Cornell Green, Chuck Howley, Mel Renfro, Charlie Waters. Named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week, Adderley's three picks are also tied for the most in one game by a Cowboys player.

8. False – On Nov. 5, 2000, in Philadelphia, the Eagles tied the score on a 34-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining in regulation and then won the game in the extra frame thanks to a 32-yard field goal, 16-13.

9. - 5 games – The Cowboys have reeled off two five-game winning streaks in the Eagles' house. On Sept. 26, 1968, Don Meredith threw five touchdown passes, including one to Bob Hayes, that led to a 45-13 victory. That would begin a streak that continued to Nov. 19, 1972. A second five-game victory stretch would last from Oct. 26, 1975 to Dec. 8, 1979. Over that 12-year period from 1968 to 1979, Dallas went 10-2 at Philadelphia.

10. Steve Beuerlein – With Troy Aikman injured, Beuerlein got the start and led Dallas to a 25-13 victory and a spot in the playoffs. After the Eagles pulled to within 15-10 in the fourth quarter, the quarterback came right back and connected with Novacek for a 32-yard gain and later Michael Irvin for a touchdown to seal the win.

11. - 237 – Emmitt Smith set a career-high with his effort, a mark that also remains the second-highest rushing total for a game in team history.

12. - 16 degrees – The official temperature at kickoff was 16, but newspapers reported the wind chill was actually minus-17. The Cowboys had four turnovers in the game on their way to a 20-7 loss.

13. - Combined tackles – Leighton Vander Esch totaled 19 team-recorded tackles and an interception in the Cowboys' 27-20 win over the Eagles. He also posted 18 takedowns in two other games during his rookie campaign.

14. - Greg Zuerlein – He kicked a 59-yard field goal on Nov. 1, 2020. He also split the uprights twice from 49 yards in the Cowboys' 23-9 loss to the Eagles.

15. - More opening games on the road – In their 66-year history, Dallas has played its first game of the season away from home 35 times.

16. - Randal Williams alertly caught the Eagles' onside kick to score the fastest touchdown in NFL history in a 2003 win over the Eagles at Texas Stadium.

17. - Felix Jones put the final touches of a 34-14 win over the Eagles in 2009 with a 73-yard run, helping the Cowboys secure their first playoff win in 13 seasons.

18. - Randall Cunningham returned to Veterans Stadium as the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, replacing an injured Troy Aikman. Cunningham played in six games in 2000 with three starts. The Cowboys lost that game in Philly, 16-13 in overtime.

19. - Jalen Tolbert caught a first-half pass from Cooper Rush in the second meeting against the Eagles in 2024. The Cowboys only scored 13 total points in the two games with Philly.

20. - Larry Brown returned an interception 20 yards against the Eagles at home in 1995 and then a 65-yard INT return in Philly later that season.
