The answers for the Cowboys-Bears trivia questions leading up to Sunday's Week 3 game in Chicago.

1) The Cowboys first game played outside of the United States was a 1986 preseason matchup against Chicago. Where did they play?
The Cowboys and Bears met up in London on August 3, 1986, in the inaugural American Bowl, which was an annual preseason game that the NFL held in other countries. Played at Wembley Stadium, Dallas fell to Chicago, 17-6. Pictured here are head coach Tom Landry and Ed "Too Tall" Jones during a media event in the days leading up to the game.

2) This longtime head coach of the Bears won a Super Bowl with the Cowboys before becoming an assistant coach on Tom Landry's staff.
Mike Ditka finished his playing career with the Cowboys, winning a Super Bowl in 1971. He then served as an assistant on head coach Tom Landry's staff for nine years before taking the reins in Chicago.

3) True or False. Ring of Honor member Don Meredith, the first face of the franchise who spent his entire NFL career with the Cowboys, was drafted by the Bears.
True – The Cowboys weren't an official NFL team yet when the 1960 draft was held. But they signed Don Meredith to a personal services contract, and then in a prearranged agreement, Bears owner George Halas selected the SMU star in the third round before later trading him to the new Dallas franchise.

4) After two seasons playing with Chicago, Chuck Howley stepped away from the game due to a knee injury. Where was he working when the Cowboys talked him out of retirement?
Linebacker Chuck Howley thought his career was over and was running a gas station, but after playing in a University of West Virginia alumni game, he decided to give pro football another shot. A former Bears teammate convinced Cowboys director of player personnel Gil Brandt to give Howley a call, and the rest is history. Howley was eventually named to both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Cowboys Ring of Honor.

Emmitt Smith topped the 1,000-yard mark in 11 straight seasons from 1991 to 2001 on his way to becoming the NFL's all-time rushing leader. Meanwhile, Payton surpassed 1,000 yards 10 times. Smith finished his career with 18,355 rushing yards while Payton had 16,726.

6.) True or False: The coldest regular-season game in Cowboys history was played in Chicago.
True – The temperature at kickoff was 8 degrees. However, the game was played on a Monday night, meaning by the time the final whistle blew, the thermometer read near zero. Dallas lost the game, 45-28.

7) Fullback Walt Garrison tied his career high with two rushing touchdowns in the Cowboys' 34-3 blowout win at Chicago on Nov. 24, 1968. What other sport did he compete in professionally?
One of the funniest players to ever wear the Star, Garrison also competed professionally in rodeos as primarily a steer wrestler. In fact, he was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. With the Cowboys, Garrison still ranks eighth in team history with 30 career rushing touchdowns while his 3,886 rushing yards are ninth.

8) On Dec. 4, 2014, at Chicago, this player totaled 41 attempts combined rushing and receiving, the second most in Cowboys history.

10) The Cowboys defeated the Bears, 24-10, on Nov. 1, 1964, at Chicago, Dallas' first victory against the team. What Cowboys rookie recorded two interceptions in the game?
Mel Renfro's effort was the first multi-interception game for the rookie. He would go on to finish the 1964 season with seven picks to top the Cowboys and earn Pro Bowl honors, a nice beginning to what would become a Pro Football Hall of Fame career.

11) worst loss in Cowboys history came against the Bears in what season?
Bears head coach Mike Ditka said this 1985 game was one of the toughest of his coaching career, watching his team completely dismantle his mentor, Tom Landry, in a 44-0 victory on Nov. 17. Though the Cowboys were a playoff team, this was the Monsters of the Midway at their peak as Chicago would go on to win the Super Bowl that season.

True – The Cowboys' first three victories over the Bears all came in Chicago: 1964, 1968 and 1973. Behind running back Preston Pearson's 138 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns catches, Dallas finally beat the Bears at Texas Stadium, 31-21, on Oct. 24, 1976. Of the 10 other NFL teams in the league during the Cowboys' 1960 inaugural season, the Bears were the last of those clubs they defeated at home.

After Troy Aikman was sidelined with a knee injury in Week 13 of the regular season, Steve Beuerlein stepped in and led the Cowboys to five straight wins and a playoff spot. He then helped Dallas to a 17-13 upset victory over the Bears in the wild-card round, throwing for 180 yards and a touchdown.

But after just two quarters and the Cowboys tied 7-7, Parcells went back to veteran Vinny Testaverde, who led the Cowboys to a 14-point win. Henson finished with just 4-of-12 passing for 31 yards and an interception, that was returned for Chicago's only touchdown.
