IRVING, Texas – Sean Lee has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month, fresh off his two-pick performance against the Lions.
Lee led the team with 52 tackles, three tackles for loss and three interceptions just in October, according to coaches' film. His four total interceptions this season currently ties him for first in the NFL.
The Cowboys' middle linebacker, who earned a contract extension before the season, also added two pressures and four pass breakups in October. He's consistently the team's leading tackler and posted double-digit tackle totals in all four games this month, including an 18-tackle game.
This marks the second time in Lee's career he's been named the Defensive Player of the Month. He also took home the honor in September 2011, and he was the first Cowboys player to do so.
Lee earned Player of the Week honors earlier this year for his Week 7 performance against the Eagles, in which he compiled 11 tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception. The only other Cowboys player to be named a player of the week this year is Dwayne Harris, who earned the honor two different times on special teams. [embedded_ad]
Lee's compiled 99 total tackles this season, according to coaches' film. The next best performer in that category is Barry Church, with 61.
