O-Line Addressed Again As Cowboys Take Florida OT Chaz Green At No. 91

IRVING, Texas -  After getting one of the better value players in the draft earlier in the night, the Cowboys came back in the third round to take offensive tackle Chaz Green with the 91st pick.

The Cowboys have now drafted an offensive linemen in the first three rounds of the draft four of the last five years as he joins a group including three first-round picks.

"It's a dream come true I'm really grateful for this opportunity," Green said Friday night. "I can't wait to get out there. This is the best offensive line last season. To be able to come in and get around those guys and that culture, it's exciting. I can't wait to get to work."

Green becomes the first offensive player taken by the Cowboys in this draft, after selecting UConn cornerback Byron Jones (27th) and Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory (60th).

The Cowboys did re-sign Doug Free to a three-year deal in the offseason to keep the starting five linemen intact, but did lose key backup Jermey Parnell to the Jaguars in free agency.

Green could be a good candidate to be the Cowboys' swing tackle to back up both Free and Tyron Smith at either spot.
Green started 29 games at Florida, including 27 on the right side. But he also saw some playing time early in his collegiate career at guard.

"I'm definitely a guy who can fit wherever you line me up. I can slide in and play guard," said Green, who I can't wait to come in and learn behind Tyron Smith and Doug Free and those guys. They talked about me playing swing tackle."

Green was one of the 30 players the Cowboys brought in on the Top 30 visits back in early April.

"I could tell it was a first-class organization," said Green, who only visited five teams. "Everything is bigger in Texas. There's a different legacy there. Now that they drafted me, it's a dream come true to be a part of it."
