Cowboys Sign Veteran Linebacker Kyle Knox To 90-Man Roster

IRVING, Texas – The linebacker shuffling continued at Valley Ranch on Tuesday, as the Cowboys signed free agent Kyle Knox to the roster.

Knox is a three-year veteran who went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2012. He was signed by Seattle as a rookie and spent the year on the practice squad. The Seahawks released him at the start of the 2013 season, and he spent time with Jacksonville before landing in New Orleans.

He played two games with the Saints in 2013 and hung around to make 12 appearances with three tackles last season.

The Cowboys released safety Keelan Johnson to make room for Knox on the 90-man roster.

The move continues what has been a heavy roster churn at the position this spring. After losing Justin Durant and Bruce Carter in free agency, the Cowboys added Keith Rivers, Jasper Brinkley and Andrew Gachkar, and they re-signed Rolando McClain.

On top of that, they added two young linebackers at the start of May, selecting Damien Wilson in the fourth round and Mark Nzeocha in the seventh round of the NFL draft. They also signed undrafted rookie Donnie Baggs after he tried out for the team during rookie minicamp.
